Sainte-Therese, Quebec

I took a bus trip to Sainte-Therese...for the first time.  I had my camera with me and took some photos to share with you all.  Sainte-Therese is another small town in Quebec...but not as far as Saint-Jerome.  It is about an hour, perhaps an hour and 15 minutes away from Montreal (by bus).

This first photo is of the train station sign.  As I mentioned in my last post on Saint-Jerome, "gare" is the French term for "station" or "terminal" used to describe train and bus terminals.

This was a sign for a brasserie...which is really a restaurant where you can have beer or other alcohol with your meal.  The food is usually pretty good in these places.

This next photo is of a mural outside on the terrace of the above brasserie.

This was just a sign outside of a cafe...it means "the green door".

This photo is of a shuttle.  In smaller towns you can find these buses, which are about half the size of the regular buses.  The regular buses have a seating capacity of approximately 40, the shuttles of approximately 20.  There were a few shuttles at the terminus as well as regular size buses.

This last photo is of the bus terminal building.  I took this photo because I love the brick and the clock!  :)

Thank you all so much for visiting me here!  I hope you all enjoyed the "tour".  :)  I really appreciate and enjoy reading your thoughts.  Please click on the "comments" link at the end of my post to share.

Saint-Jerome, Quebec

I took a long bus trip (about two hours) from the Montreal area to St. Jerome.  St. Jerome is north of Montreal and is a small, beautiful little town.  This was the first time I had ever been there and I really enjoyed it.  Hope you all enjoy my photos as much as I enjoyed taking them and sharing them here with you all.

"Place de la Gare" means "Station Place" in English.  Gare is the term here used for bus and train stations.

This was a little restaurant inside an old train car.  There was a terrasse (terrace) with tables and umbrellas where you could sit and eat your lunch after you place your order at that window.  The gentleman serving was very pleasant and the food was great.  I ordered just a hot dog and french fries and it was very good.

My News

I want you all to know how much I appreciate you all visiting my blog and for your kind responses to my posts.  I will resume the Ducks at Sunset (beginning tomorrow) and there are two posts left for that series.

I am still seeing the employment counselor as I mentioned in previous posts.  As of now my job search has been put on hold.  It isn't easy for me to make this post, but I feel that being open and honest is the best way and will show you all who I am.  At this point in time if I were to go to a job interview I would seriously crumble under the pressure.  I don't even know why I have been so stressed, but I have been.  The heat and humidity are not helping me at all, either, as the summer is very hard for me.  You know how bears are known to hibernate in the winter?  I tend to "hibernate" in the summer...in the extreme heat and humidity.

What is happening now is that the employment counselor (and I agree with her) thinks that I will benefit greatly from a program whereas you work but you don't have to go through the process of an interview.  It will be real work but the purpose of the program is to help people to gain the skills and confidence they need to be able to get fully back into the work force.  This program can last between six months to one year and will be a 20 hour work week.  There are people around (such as social workers) to help the participants to realize their goals in a relaxed, non-stressful setting whereas the participants can work at their own pace.

My best friend, whose name is also Linda, is 6 years older than myself (she is 61)...and she just lost her job last week.  She is also quite stressed, and I fully comprehend how she feels.  It is hard enough to lose a job and it seems to get more difficult the older one gets...especially for women.  I would appreciate you keeping her in your prayers and thoughts as well.  She is trying to stay calm and I have been talking to her and telling her all I know as far as what procedures she needs to take in order to get employment insurance and the help she needs.  She was doing that job for 30 years.  I won't give more details as I respect her privacy, but I thank you all for keeping both my friend Linda and I in your prayers and thoughts.

Whew!  I have said a mouthful.  All this to let you know what is happening at this point in my life...and to ask for your prayers and thoughts on my behalf.

Again, thank you all so much for visiting me here and for your kind responses to my posts!  It means so much to me.

Ducks at Sunset (Part 1)

I took a nice stroll by the waterfront once again...and this time it was at sunset/dusk, my favourite time of day.  I found several ducks including babies.  I hope you all enjoy these photos, it will be a 3 part post.  :)  Someone actually put a chair by the water so I took a photo of it.  I did not sit in it, though.

My Waterfront Stroll

I really think that you are all beginning to notice (or perhaps have noticed for sometime) that I just love the water!  :)  I think this shows in my photos.  Here is yet another waterfront stroll I had.

This stroll was different, though...well, for one thing, I was disappointed in a couple of photos I took.  Since I am still experimenting with the zoom in feature, and since this particular bird I photographed was the furthest away from me of any photographs I have ever taken, the pics of the bird are ones I really don't like.  However, I am posting them anyway, because I thought that perhaps some of you might recognize what breed of bird this is!  I will describe it as being a tall egret with grey feathers on its back.  A crane, perhaps?  Or something else?  Here are the photos I took that didn't turn out the way I had hoped.  I am referring to the bird on the rock.

Here are the rest of the photos from this stroll.

I used the zoom in feature on all these photos.  Even though I am not completely happy with the way they turned out I felt that they are clear enough (except for that large bird) that you can see what is in them.

Thank you all so much for visiting me here, and I really appreciate and enjoy reading your thoughts.  Please click on the "comments" link at the end of my post to share.
