Kindness Only Takes a Moment

Hi everyone!  The video I have chosen for this post is "Kindness Only Takes a Moment."  It is a short, two minute video.

I am still in quite a bit of pain.  I spoke with a nurse on the phone today and she thinks I may have tendinitis and not bursitis.  Whatever it is, it is quite painful.  She suggested that  besides keeping my foot elevated and resting it to periodically put ice and warmth on it.  So this is what I am going to do.

The photo I am sharing is one that I took last week.  You just need to click on the image to see a larger view.

Lily Pond

Hi everyone!  For this post I have chosen a beautiful, short, one minute video entitled "Lily Pond."  I found it lovely and refreshing and hope you all do as well.

I was invited to a friend's place for Easter dinner this evening.  Unfortunately, though, I am unable to go, as I can barely walk.  I woke up yesterday morning in a great deal of pain on my left ankle...and still have the pain right now.  I think it is bursitis, caused from too much friction on a joint, and some fluid accumulates on the joint which causes the pain.  Other than this, though, I am fine, thankfully.  I am O.K. with it, I am taking it in my stride and trying my best to not cause more stress on the foot by keeping it elevated as much as I can.  I would really appreciate your prayers and thoughts on my behalf.

The photo I am sharing today is one I took on a walk last week.  You just need to click on the image to see a larger view.  It isn't much but I found the ripplets of water and the soothing sound very nice!

Easter Weekend

Hi everyone!  I would like to wish you all a wonder filled, glorious Easter weekend.  The video I have chosen for this post is "Soothing and Relaxing Music...Breathe".  It is a short, 2 minute video.  Enjoy!

The photo I am sharing in this post is one that I took this week.  I saw a duck and decided to take a photo.  You just need to click on the image to see a larger view.

Happiness Comes from Within

Hello everyone!  Firstly, I would like to thank Ginny because it was a comment she made in my blog post of yesterday that inspired the idea for today's post.  Thank you, Ginny!

The video I am sharing today is a short, 1 minute video entitled, "Happiness Comes from Within".

Too often we see people in search of happiness, because they often look for happiness in other people and things, rather than making it happen from within!  True happiness, real happiness and contentment, in my view, must come from within.  If we are happy with little things we will be happy with more things, but we need to realize that it is the the "things" that make us happy, but our outlook on life and people, including our view of ourselves, is where the real happiness...lasting happiness comes.

A few years ago a lady whom I was good friends with (and she passed on two years ago at the age of 88) came to visit me and had a cup of tea with me.  She was so surprised at how little I have in the way of furniture and belongings.  I assured her that I am happy and appreciate the things I do have.  I have realized, and I guess it helps that I grew up in a very low income bracket, as my mother was unable to work due to health issues and my father did his best to support us, but I always had very little even as a child.  It is so sad when you see people who are used to having so much suddenly losing what they have...and going into a depressed state.  This happens when they learn to depend on the people and things they have, and then when they lose it, they are devastated.  Since I appreciate and enjoy, and take care of, what little I have, I don't feel that I am lacking at all.  In fact, I feel rich...not in a monetary sense, but in a spiritual and mental sense, if you get what I mean.  Therefore, since I have learned that joy and happiness come from within, I am able to be happy and thankful for what I have.

Another thing I am extremely grateful for...yes, many people have been complaining about the snow and how difficult the winter has been!  I have noticed, though, because of the weather conditions we have had, vegetables are at a great price!  As a result I have been really enjoying salads, which I just love!  The spinach was just $1.00 per package last week, and it is beautiful (the two packages I bought were!).  The English cucumbers were a good price, the tomatoes, etc., and so I am choosing to see the positive in the weather we have had.

The photo I am sharing today is one that I took yesterday on a long walk.  You just need to click on the image to see a larger view.

Pause and Relax

Hello everyone!  The video I have chosen for this post is a soothing harp melody entitled, "Dance of Hope."  The image stays the same throughout the video so you can listen to it while you view my photo and do whatever you need to do.

The photo I am sharing is one that I took today.  This amazing house is in a gated community not far from the water, and the area is quiet and lovely.  There were a couple of signs on the gate to "Beware of Guard Dog".  However, I didn't see the dog around at the time I took this photo.  You just need to click on the image to see a larger view.

I Love Spring!

Hi everyone!  The video I have chosen for this post is "Bing Crosby Glee Club - Whiffenpoof Song 1947 Yale".  Hope you all enjoy it...love this nostalgic song!

Spring is springing up in Montreal, the snow is gradually melting, and we had two beautiful sunny days...yesterday and today!  It put me in a Spring cleaning mood so I did a thorough vacuuming and big cleaning in my kitchen.  I even opened the kitchen and bedroom windows a couple of inches to get some beautiful fresh air into the apartment.  It felt great!

I took a nice walk today and brought my camera with me.  I will share a photo from my walk today.  Not sure if you can see it, and I did zoom in;  perhaps if you look at a larger view you will see it when you click on it.  There is a squirrel in this photo.  :)  I will give you a hint;  it is on a lower part of the photo.  I was unable to get a closer shot but I decided to keep the photo anyway because I was happy the the sky and clouds.  The trees are starting to bud!

Children and Flowers

Hi everyone!  I decided to entitle my post "Children and Flowers" because I am sharing a cute song, "Snappy the Little Crocodile" that became a hit song in Germany...sung by a 4 year old girl!  :)  Out of the mouth of babes.  You can't help but want to sing along with her, even though the song is in German, it is a sweet, catchy tune!

Now for the flowers part of my post.  I took this photo a couple of years ago in the summer of 2011, after some much needed rain!  You just need to click on the image to see a larger view.

Vintage Radios

Hi everyone!  I once saw a comment on a YouTube video that said vintage radios picked up the AM radio stations better than any radio today!  The video I have chosen for this post is "Collector Donates 100 Vintage Radios".  It is a fascinating video that I really enjoyed and hope you all do as well.  It is a two minute video.

For those of you who have (or who have had) vintage radios, what do you think about them?  Do you prefer the vintage radios over today's radios?  As many of you know I love vintage so you will know my answer to this already.  :)

The photo I am sharing in this post is one I took a few years ago in a nature park.  You just need to click on the image to see a larger view.

Fabulous Friday

Hi everyone!  Well, the sun is shining today and the snow is well on its way to getting cleared up.  The video I have chosen for this post is a cute one...a Budweiser Clydesdale commercial.  I love their ads, they are well thought out and are mostly humourous and inspirational.  The one I have chosen is a humourous, 30 second one.  Enjoy!

Amazing Clean Up Today

Hi everyone!  An amazing clean up has been done today on the roads and sidewalks of Montreal!  The snow removal crews are out in full force and handling it quite well, it was nice to go out today and not have to worry about those snowbanks!

The video I have chosen for this post is from the 70's.  The song is entitled "You Don't Have to be a Star" by Billy Davis Jr. and Marilyn McCoo.  They are a lovely couple who have been married for more than 40 years.  Hope you enjoy this.
They are still performing, Marilyn is 69 and Billy is 74, I think.

I saw a post on Facebook today that made me laugh out loud. It was a photo of a groundhog...and the caption is, "Wanted for fraud;  lying groundhog!"  Well, the blizzard we had in Montreal a couple of days ago can, I suppose, testify to that, but I found it quite humorous.  :)

The photo I am sharing today is one that I took in December 2010.  It is a photo of the St. Joseph's Oratory on Mount Royal here in Montreal!  I chose this angle in order to show what an amazing structure it is.  You just need to click on the image to see a larger view.

The Calm After the Storm

Hello everyone!  The video I am sharing in this post is only one minute in length...and quite comical.  It is from a British television ad;  hope you all enjoy it!  :)

I decided to entitle this post 'The Calm After the Storm'...actually, there are two reasons!  One is that we got hit here in Montreal with a snowstorm yesterday, and I am sharing a photo of that, however, a more significant reason for the title of my post is referring to the 'storms' in our lives...and the calm thereafter.

All of us have experienced difficulties in our lives and we know that during these difficulties, it is not easy to see a light at the end of the tunnel at times.  Sometimes we feel overwhelmed and depressed, and at those times we feel that we will never see happiness again.  I can't help but think of something that I experienced a couple of years ago, and something that still haunts me to this day.  See, I had a Facebook friend. This gentleman was someone whom I had never met face to face, and he spoke four languages, if I remember accurately...two of the languages he spoke were French and English, like myself.  We communicated often via our posts on Facebook and through private messages and e-mails, and he was just 5 months older than myself and lived in Belgium. He worked as a personal life coach, so he was very caring and kind, and did his best to help others as best he could, in whatever way he could.  His page on Facebook was upbeat, positive and filled with encouraging messages and photos, quotes, etc.  At one point I had computer issues and was not online for about 3 weeks.  It was during this time that he decided that life was no longer worth living...and took his own life.  From what I heard, he was found hanging in his apartment.

I was shocked and hurt at this news.  The way I found out was...when I was able to get back online and onto Facebook, a lady who was a mutual friend of mine and his sent me a private message telling me that he had died...and to check his page.  One of his friends had posted the horrific news that he was found in his apartment, and that he had hanged himself. At first I was numbed, in shock, having trouble believing it, but alas, it was the truth.  He was gone.  :(  I kept thinking to myself "What if I had been around and online?  Would he have confided in me and told me of his deep sadness?"  "Would I have been able to do anything to bring him out of his depth of despair?"  Well, these questions...and including, I might add, blaming myself, went on for quite a while until I realized...there is nothing I could have done!  The people who were able to continue communicating with him...he never told them, apparently, about his deep sadness and his feelings of wanting to end his own life.  I shed tears for at least a few months after this, it took me quite a while to come to terms with it.  To be honest, I still haven't;  however, I am now able to share it without falling to pieces.

Sorry for the long post but this is something that I really needed to share!  So for all of you out there...if you are feeling sad, depressed, in the depth of despair, please talk to someone about your feelings, and go to see a doctor.

To end this post I am sharing a photo I took just a few hours ago...it is sunny and lovely today, but in the photo I took and am sharing here you cannot tell!  The snowbank that you see in this photo is (was) actually a sidewalk, believe it or not, and this is pretty much how a good majority of the sidewalks in Montreal look at this time.  It will take them a long time to clean this up!  And this is on a main street yet!  You just need to click on the image to see a larger view.

Do it with Joy!

Hi everyone!  I thought that this video was just fantastic and wanted to share it with you all!  It is short, 4 minutes in length, but well worth your time, in my opinion!  There is no speaking in the video so you don't need to worry about understanding any language.  :)

I get excited when I see people enjoying themselves like this, especially in the workplace!  So often we see people going to work and not enjoying their work, which is so sad.  I consider myself blessed to have had, for the most part, jobs that I really enjoyed!  Of course, though, this doesn't mean that it was easy.  I have always felt that bringing a smile and a positive attitude can really change things that can otherwise be dismal, and seeing the guy in this video shows how this can be, in action!  He obviously enjoys his job!  Not only does he enjoy his job, but he brightens people's days with his smile and positive attitude, as you will see.  He also has a group cheering him on, standing and watching him, and I can see myself as being one of those people!  His enthusiasm is infectious!

So what about yourself...if you work, and if you feel comfortable sharing this, what type of work do you do?  Do you enjoy it?  If you are retired and no longer working, are you enjoying your time in a way that makes you feel happy and relaxed?

Snow Storm on its Way...but that's O.K.

eal
Hi everyone!  There is a snow storm on its way to Montreal...and we are expected to get anywhere from 25 to 40 centimeters.  It will begin around midnight tonight and continue tomorrow, with heavy snow and gusting winds, right through to Wednesday.  I chose a nice video for this post....Bing Crosby and Music Maids - Little Sir Echo 1939.  I hope you all enjoy it, I found it really beautiful.

The photo I am sharing this time is one that I took a few years ago.  It is a beautiful fountain right outside of a city hall in Montreal.  You just need to click on the image to see a larger view.

Five and Dime Stores of Yesteryear

Hi everyone!  I am sure that a lot of you remember the old five and dime stores from the 1960's and earlier?  In my area, Montreal, there were several.  I can remember one called Jupiter and, of course, F.W. Woolworth!  Needless to say, F.W. Woolworth was my favourite, and I miss it so much.  It was a department store...although it didn't resemble any other department store in that (at least the Woolworth's that I went to) it had just one floor.  It was quite a large store and had everything from school supplies to live birds, fish and turtles, and it had a large and long soda fountain counter (brown, as I recall), and it had such a warm and friendly atmosphere.

You could do all your shopping there with the exception of fresh meat and produce, and the prices were very good!  My parents often took me there on a Saturday morning, where we would have breakfast at the counter...and the food was really good, fresh and the price was great.  After breakfast my parents would walk around the store and make their purchases...radio, wool, candy, school supplies, whatever they needed and we would go to the cash and pay for the items.  I can still remember the sound of the big old cash register!

As for today, at least in my opinion, I think the dollar stores are today's five and dime stores.  No, (at least the ones here in Montreal) don't have a soda fountain counter where you can order a meal or a coffee, but I have often found some nostalgic items there that I honestly thought were gone for good!  Lavoris Mouth Wash, for example!  I remember the red one and the cinnamon taste.  I was pleasantly surprised to see that dollar stores in my area are still selling this!  I have always wondered why I enjoy going to dollar stores so much, but I think I know why now...nostalgic memories!  Whenever I go to a dollar store I make certain that I am not in a rush and I take my time to walk around and see all the items they sell.  When I see something that I remember from my childhood I have such good memories and I always feel good when I go to a dollar store...and am happy with my purchases when I leave.  I also love to go to thrift and charity stores, and for the same reason!

I found this video of an old F.W. Woolworth TV commercial from 1980.  Note that it was just 30 seconds in length.

So what about you?  Do you go to dollar stores in your area?  Do you find any nostalgic items in them?  Do you remember the F.W. Woolworth stores of yesteryear?

Thank you all so much for visiting me here!  I really appreciate and enjoy reading your thoughts, which you are always welcome to share by clicking on the 'comments' link at the end of my post.

Route 66...A Trip Down Memory Lane

Well, I have never seen Route 66, except in videos and old posters, etc., but what I have seen I really like.  I find it to be nostalgic and brings back some great memories for me...from simpler times.  The video I am sharing is "Route 66...A Trip Down Memory Lane".

Have any of you seen it...or know anyone who has?  From what I have seen, it seems like the kind of place I would have enjoyed with the old diners, old gas stations and many people seem to have such fond memories of it.  Is it abandoned now?

For those of you who have NOT seen Route 66, what nostalgic memories can be found in your part of the world?

Nostalgia is Therapeutic!

Hi everyone!  The video I have chosen for this post is "Memory Lane 1940's."  I loved it and hope you all enjoy it!  It is 6 minutes long but well worth the watch.

I found something today that really boosted my mood.  Nostalgia is good and healthy and is a mood booster.  Funny, I have always felt that it was for myself, as I just love to reminisce about days gone by (the positive, of course), and I have always found that even for a short time it takes me away from the stresses of day to day life...which is much needed and therapeutic for me.  Here is a link of interest.
The Positive Aspects of Nostalgia

In keeping with the nostalgia theme, the photo I am sharing today is one I took a few years ago...after I got permission to enter the elementary school I attended from kindergarten to grade 6!  I told the secretary that I am a former student and that I just wanted to take some photos for nostalgic purposes.  She agreed to allow me to do this.  Here is one of the photos I took...this long hallway has the classrooms of the youngest children.  Quite colourful!  Just walking around that day brought back some good memories for me.  Even though I was in a special class for slow learners from grade 2 right up to high school, I retain some good and positive memories.  Here is the photo.  You just need to click on the image to see a larger view.

Thank you all so much for visiting me here!  Please feel free to share your positive childhood memories, I would really enjoy hearing them.  You are always welcome to share your thoughts, which I always enjoy reading.  You just need to click on the 'comments' link at the end of my post.

News on the Home Front...and Humour

Hi everyone!  I feel the need to make this post if for no other reason to spread awareness as to the things that are happening at this time in Quebec.  On tonight's local news in Montreal, a franchise owner of a business called Liquid Nutrition is being targeted by the language police OQLF about changing the name of his franchise from Liquid Nutrition to Liquide Nutrition, to make it French.  This requires adding an 'e' at the end of Liquid, which will cost the business owner $10,000.  He is already paying whatever amount to have the name of his business protected as being a trademark.  Sigh.

I saw a segment in a free newspaper the other day which made me laugh, and so much so that I have it on my wall at home.  It is a photo of one of our Quebec politicians, and there are two parts.  The first part has her wearing a crown, and the title is "her aspiration."  The second part has her wearing a Mickey Mouse cap and the title is "her reality".  I put it on my wall in order to help me to see the humour in all of this.  I hope it helps.  :)  So far it is!

Anyway, forgive me for sharing this but I just have to!  In my opinion, all this that is happening right now is going to hurt business owners...and the way I see it is this means that it will ultimately hurt the job market!  The business owner is going to fight this and I wish him the best, really.

The video I am sharing for this post is of a German weather lady...she saw an image of a man on her screen, which wasn't supposed to be there and caused her to laugh...and laugh!  Her laughter is contagious, hope you all enjoy it, it is a very short video.

Spring Symphony

Hi everyone!  The video I have chosen for this post is "Spring Symphony" - Andre Rieu.  Hope you all enjoy it.  It is a beautiful soothing melody with lovely flowers and nature images.

Little Inn by the Sea

Hi everyone!  The video I am sharing is entitled "Little Inn by the Sea", hence the title of this post.  :)  This looks like a wonderful place to relax and enjoy some beautiful nature views.

I thought it would be nice to share some things about myself in this post to enable you all to get to know me a bit better.

1.  I love peace and quiet and "alone time".  Don't get me wrong, I enjoy being with people and spend a fair amount of time with people, but there are times where I just love to be alone...this usually happens in the evenings after supper.

2.  I don't like loud sounds, never did.  Loud music, concerts, parades and the like have never been my cup of tea.  If I want to see a parade I prefer to watch it on television in the comfort and peace of my home.

3.  I am at my happiest and calmest when I am in nature.  If I cannot be in nature, then I am at my happiest at home organizing things and playing soft music or listening to the sounds of nature on some CDs that I have.  I have CDs with ocean sounds, dolphin sounds, crickets, thunderstorms, gentle music, etc.  I also love the sound of a cat's purr and find it very soothing and therapeutic.

4.  I would love to have my bedroom in an ocean or nature theme...and am thinking about doing this.  You know, turquoise or coral paint, (soft and soothing to me), a few seashells around, sort of creating an oasis or sanctuary of sorts.

Well, just wanted to share this with you all.  :)

I went for a nice walk today.  It was raining...but very mild, and the rain was gentle, like a mist!  I thoroughly enjoyed my walk and brought my camera with me.  I took a few photos...here is one of them, of a condominium.  I am surprised at how many of these are springing up.  You just need to click on the image to see a larger view.

French Headaches

Hi everyone!  Yes, it is a strange title for my post!  I decided to entitle my post in this manner because I have a headache right now and part of the reason is most likely due to the language issues here in Quebec.

Firstly, I am not intending to "badmouth" anyone or anything, let me assure you this.  I just need to talk about this because it seems that practically every single night I hear SOMETHING about the language issues on the local news here in Montreal.  Fine, you could say "Why do you watch the news, then?"  Well, I live here and it affects me for one thing...but even if I don't hear it on the news I will see something about it on the web, hear people talking about it on the bus, whatever!

As I write this post I am sipping a nice cup of tea (Sultan 1936 "After Meals".)  I just finished my supper and this tea is just wonderful after a meal.  It contains caraway, rosemary and peppermint...and is delicious and has a calming effect after a meal, which I especially need right now.

Getting back to the language issues here in Quebec.  French is the first language here...they want it to be the only language.  I myself am fluent in French (although my mother tongue is English).  I speak it, understand it and write it pretty well according to many francophones who have seen my fluency in the language.  So why do the language issues bother me, you may ask, if I am fluent in French?  Because I want to live in peace, be happy and enjoy things the way they have been!  I was born in Montreal and have been here all my life.  Some may say, "Well, Linda, why don't you just move?"  Easier said than done.  Firstly, if I had the funds to do so I most likely would have done this a long time ago.  Still, I am not so sure that running away will help to solve anything...and wherever I decide to run away to will have its own set of issues, as everywhere in the world has!

Let me just say that it is not only the anglophones who want peace and harmony here...many French do as well!  It isn't that we mind having to speak French, but nobody wants it shoved down their throats and made to feel like second class citizens, as it were, should we decide to communicate in English.

The video I have chosen for this post "Relaxing Island Music".

Thank you all so much for visiting me here, and thank you for "listening."  I really enjoy and appreciate reading your kind thoughts, which you are always welcome to share by clicking on the 'comments' link at the end of my post.

2000 Ducks

Hi everyone!  The title of the video I am sharing is 2000 Ducks, so I kept the name for this post.  I have never seen this many ducks before, it is quite something.  This was filmed in Thailand by the person who uploaded this video.

The photo I am sharing today is another one from my March 5th farm visit, I think it goes well with the video;  of course there are not nearly as many, and the setting is different...nonetheless, I thoroughly enjoyed watching them and taking this photo.  You just need to click on the image to see a larger view.

Daylight Savings Time

Hi everyone!  Daylight Savings Time begins tomorrow where we advance our clocks by one hour.  I often wonder why we change the clocks like this, and it was mentioned on the local (Montreal) news the other night about "why not leave it one hour forward all the time"....and asked if people think this would be a good idea or not.  This would give everyone more daylight, even in the winter.

The video that I have chosen for this post is an absolutely beautiful and soft melody..."Soul Shine" (Kenio Fuke).  I hope you all enjoy it as much as I!

I purchased a tea the other day...it is called "Sultan 1936 After Meals".  It contains caraway, rosemary and peppermint.  It is delicious and has a wonderful calming effect after a meal.  I highly recommend it.

The photo I am sharing today is one that I took on my farm visit on March 5th.  This sweet dog kind of acted as a guide, he followed me around a bit and made me feel very welcome.  The horses seemed to have a good "rapport" with the dog and also made me feel welcome.  LOL!  You just need to click on the image to see a larger view.

Relaxing Friday Evening!

Hi everyone!  The video I have chosen for this post is Everglades Paintings Showcase...Riley Geddings, with soothing music.  Enjoy!

The farm that I went to on March 5th is a place where they teach horseback riding to anyone who wants to take lessons...both children and adults.  I did not go horseback riding, I just went there to enjoy a nice long walk.  Most of the lessons are given on weekends, so I usually make it a point to go there on a weekday, it is more peaceful and the horses aren't so "busy", which gives me time to explore and enjoy in a quiet setting.  The day I went there nobody was going horsebackriding that I saw, so it was just a nice calm setting.

Here is another photo that I took that day.  You just need to click on the image to see a larger view.

Windy Day...but Pleasant!

Hi everyone!  The video I am sharing in this post is "Everything is hotsy totsy now...Gene Austin, 1929".  I am posting it differently this time round, as I was unable to post the video as I usually do, so hope you are all able to view it just the same.  :)  I found it to be a fun song with a nice beat!

I am still very new to HTML and to be perfectly honest, a bit nervous about it in the sense that there is just so little I know, so thank you all for bearing with me.  What I do know 100% is with HTML, if there is one tiny letter or code that is not accurate, it doesn't work.

O.K., I am continuing with the photos that I took on my farm visit yesterday.  You just need to click on the image to enlarge it.  There was a very "dear" family of deer!  LOL!  Here is one that came a little closer for my photo.

Thank you all so much for visiting me here!  I really appreciate and enjoy reading your nice thoughts, which you can always share by clicking on the 'comments' link at the end of my post.

Spring is in the Air!

Hello everyone!  The video I have chosen for this post is "I'm Old Fashioned" (1943 Fred Astaire - John Scott Trotter Orchestra).  Hope you all enjoy it!

I got really excited today, as the weather was just beautiful!  It was a partly sunny, partly cloudy, lovely day!  Cool, but not cold, perfect weather for me to take a nice long walk...and I did!  At a horse farm!  There were not only horses there, either, as you will all see if you continue checking out my posts for the next few weeks.  I took many photos so I will be sharing them with you over the next few weeks...one per day.

Here is the first of my series of photos at this gorgeous, huge farm.  Hope you enjoy this series!  You just need to click on the image to see a larger view.

Peaceful Sanctuary

Hi everyone!  I hope that this post will provide a peaceful sanctuary for you all.  I have chosen the video "Easy to Love" (1936, Cole Porter Songs, Al Bowlly & Ray Noble Orchestra).

The photo I am sharing today is one I took at Montreal's Botanical Gardens.  Speaking of sanctuaries, this place is indeed one!  I spent a few hours there just enjoying the views and the peaceful atmosphere.  You just need to click on the image to see a larger view.

HSP

Hi everyone!  The title of my post is HSP = highly sensitive person!  I am a HSP and I am sure some of you are as well.  HSP is not a personality disorder, but rather a personality trait.  If you want to see if you are a HSP, here is a test that you can do online.  Please feel free to share your test results, if you would like to.

The song I have chosen for this post is "Chiquita Banana" (1940's).

Television Then....and Now

Hi everyone!  I found this video (1930 Vintage Ford Commercial) and it made me feel nostalgic.  I was wondering:  for those of you who grew up in the 1960's and earlier, did you prefer television as it was back then...or how it is today...and why?

As for myself, I kind of miss the old television shows and TV ads.  If I am not mistaken, the commercial breaks were much shorter back then than they are today.  Television commercials themselves were longer, but the actual commercial break was shorter.  Rather than seeing 4 commercials or more, (like we do today), you would see one or two back then.  These are my memories, anyway, but I look forward to hearing your memories and thoughts on television...then and now.
