Hello everyone!  The video I have chosen for this post is a short one-minute one that I hope you will all enjoy!  A nice and pleasant journey back in time!

We are having lovely weather in Montreal and today was sunny and mild, a perfect day for a nice walk.  I took a walk with my camera and the photo I am sharing is one that I took on this walk.  I came across a Canada goose enjoying the weather as well.  You just need to click on the image to see a larger view.

Octopus and Canada Geese

Hello everyone!  The video I have chosen for this post is a short, 3 minute, fascinating video!  It is about octopus intelligence.  As many of you know, I love animals and am fascinated by nature and found this video quite amazing.  Hope you all enjoy it.

The photo I am sharing in this post is one that I took on my walk on Saturday, a few days ago.  I was happy to have come across a pair of Canada geese.  You just need to click on the image to see a larger view.

Take Time to Relax

Hello everyone!  The video I have chosen for this post is a short, two minute video entitled "Soothing Music and White Sand Beaches."  I hope you all enjoy this as much as I!

The photo I am sharing today is one I took on my Saturday walk a couple of days ago.  I found the golden yellow at the top of the tree so nice against the beautiful blue sky.  You just need to click on the image to see a larger view.

Meet Chris P. Bacon, the Pig in a Wheelchair!

Hi everyone!  I found an adorable, one minute video to share with you all in this post.  The name of the video is the title of my post!  I so enjoyed it and hope you all will as well.

It was such a beautiful, sunny day today!  I took a nice walk and brought my camera with me.  The photo I am sharing here is one I took today on my walk.  You just need to click on the image to see a larger view.

A Journey Back in Time

Hi everyone!  For those of you who are regular visitors to my blog, you know how much I enjoy reminiscing about days gone by.  I find it relaxing and therapeutic, not to mention enjoyable.
The video I am sharing in this post is a short two minute video about the Montreal 1967 World's Fair.  I was 10 years old when this began and I have very fond memories of it...and when you look at the video I am sure you will see why!

The photo I am sharing today is one that I took on a walk earlier this week.  I found the art on this building interesting, it certainly caught my attention.  You just need to click on the image to see a larger view.

It's Friday!

Hi everyone!  I have chosen a soothing video for this post that I hope you will all enjoy!  It is gentle harp music with images of flowing water.  I really find it very relaxing and beautiful and hope you all will as well!  It is a short 3 minute video.

The photo I am sharing today is one that I took on my walk last Friday, April 19th.  It was a house that was almost finished being built.  You just need to click on the image to see a larger view.

Life is too Short

Hi everyone!  This is going to be quite a long post, so I really hope you will all bear with me, as I am not used to making such long posts, but I really felt the need to this time.  The photo I shared in my last post was a photo with a family of young deer.  I realize now that, even though enlarged, it would have been difficult to tell what they were, so I apologize for not mentioning what kind of animals they were.  :)  They were somewhat spooked because of the rain that Montreal was about to get.

I went to a restaurant this morning for breakfast.  I don't do this often but I try to a couple of times a month.  Anyway, I have had the wonderful opportunity to get to know two really nice waitresses at this restaurant.  They are very kind and professional and I enjoy talking to them when they aren't too busy.  Today one of the waitresses was bringing me a second cup of coffee which they do at no charge to customers who want one and who have a meal there.  The waitress who served me today accidentally dropped the coffee cup and saucer, filled with coffee and the coffee spilled all over the table and on my lap.  She was so apologetic...however, I said to her, "Please don't worry, it was an accident;  accidents happen!"  Although I felt the heat from the coffee on my lap it didn't burn me.  I was wearing jeans and the jeans, I suppose, protected my legs from any possible burn.  The waitress apologized profusely several times.  I told her please not to be concerned about it, as this was an accident, and although I felt the heat of the coffee I was not injured.  I mentioned to her that if I were to be upset about this, then how would I be in a more dire situation?  Seriously, life is too short to get upset over something like this (in my view).  I just did a load of laundry when I got home, no harm done!

I know that some people struggle with various mental illnesses such as OCD and depression.  I personally struggle with depression.  I am a highly sensitive person (HSP), which is not a mental illness but rather a personality trait.  There are good things and bad things in being a HSP.  The good is that HSPs are able to be empathetic and compassionate to others.  The bad is what I am dealing with at this time is that I tend to take things way too personally.  An example would be if someone...usually someone I know on a personal level and am closer to, sends me an e-mail.  Sometimes I perceive it as being cold if the e-mail is short and more to the point that I might be used to.  The person is not meaning to, or being cold at all, they are perhaps short on time due to being on a work break and/or sending the e-mail by way of a cell phone as opposed to a computer (like I always and only use). One would think that I would appreciate the fact that the person took the time to send me the e-mail at all, especially since they were doing it on a break.  (which I truly do).  I guess I am so used to sending an e-mail when I have more time and not on a work break (and never on a cell phone, as I don't have one), that I really didn't think of the manner in which they sent me the e-mail...I just think that it seems cold at that moment.  I am very hard on myself and things like this can really throw me into a depressed state, because I am hitting myself over how I reacted rather than just trying to learn from the situation.   When I get to being so sensitive that I feel that others are being cold toward me....when they really are not, I just want to slap myself.  Anyway, thank you all for bearing with me and for "listening."  I could really use your prayers and thoughts on my behalf with this, as it is a very difficult thing for me to work on;  and believe me, I am really trying to!  Perhaps I am falling back into a depressed state so anything I feel will be much more intense than when I am not in this state.  I have called and made an appointment with a social worker, because I feel that I need to talk about this in depth.  Sometimes it is good to not deal with things as difficult as this alone, and perhaps being able to talk about it and hear what the social worker has to say may help.  It certainly can't hurt.  Social workers in my area are well equipped in dealing with mental health issues, such as depression, and they, unlike psychologists, are free of charge to meet with using a medicare card.  Interesting, too, that just a week ago I made a post in reference to a depressed friend, and wondered why it is that depressed people go into hiding as opposed to coming out and talking about their depression.  So I am trying to seek help rather than hide, by talking about it here and by making an appointment with a social worker.  In closing on this topic, I don't have OCD...but I can relate to those who do, and here is how.  Whereas someone who has OCD often cannot control their tendency to double, triple and quadruple...check things, and those who have OCD will know what I am talking about, when I feel sensitive about something I can't just "shut it off."  I really wish I could!

I found the following quotation on Dr. Wayne W. Dyer's page on Facebook...Dr. Wayne W. Dyer

This quotation really touches my heart...and I really try to remember it in my day to day life.  I remembered it today when the coffee spilling incident happened.  Had I reacted in a negative manner, I would have felt badly and rightly so, as it would have made the waitress feel worse than she already did...and this would have spoken volumes as to what kind of a person I am and strive to be.  None of us is perfect, but if we really try to be kind to others and considerate of their feelings it really helps us.  I feel much happier and healthier when I am able to make someone feel good about themselves, as somehow it makes me feel good about myself as well.

The video I have chosen for this post is sweet and light...and short.  It is of a pet crow taking a bath.  I just love birds and enjoyed seeing this crow take a bath.  Hope you all do as well.

The photo I am sharing today is one that I took last Friday, April 19th. You just need to click on the image to see a larger view.

I know that many of my fellow bloggers have talked about getting spam in the way of comments on their blog posts.  I have noticed that I am getting spam as well;  however, the spam I have been getting has been on old posts...like a year ago.  I have been deleting them and not allowing them to appear.  One of my posts in particular has been getting several spam entries in the comments.  I managed to disallow any further comments on that post.  I am wondering...is there any way to disallow comments on older posts in one easy task, or does one have to do it with each and every single post?  Thank you so much!

April Showers

Hi everyone!  The video I have chosen for this post is "April Showers", Judy Garland, 1956.  I hope you all enjoy this lovely classic!

The photo I am sharing today is one that I took on my farm visit last Friday, April 19th.  You just need to click on the image to see a larger view.

Ancestral Home

Hi everyone!  I have chosen a video entitled "Ancestral Home" for this post...it is a relaxing pan flute melody which I hope you will all enjoy.

It was a gorgeous day outside today!  The sun was shining and it was cool but beautiful!  I took a few photos, one of which I am sharing in this post...taken today!  Please keep in mind that I don't have a lot of experience taking photos when the sun is shining as brightly as it was today!  I took a photo of the upper part of a church so that I could capture the spire...and the sky!  Since the sun was shining so brightly I honestly had no idea how the photo would turn out.  I was quite amazed to see the sun in my photo and find that it added a nice character to it.  Hope you all agree.

Here is the photo;  you just need to click on the image to see a larger view.  You can see how blue the sky was today as well...unlike on Friday when I took my photos at the farm.  The sky was white that day.  :)

Sheep and Elephant Friends

Hi everyone!  I found a very lovely video of the friendship between a sheep and an elephant...it is a short, two-minute video which I hope you will enjoy!

The photo I am sharing today is one I took on Friday, April 19th, just a few days ago.  I was visiting a farm and took some photos....this time of a sheep.  You just need to click on the image to see a larger view.

Not sure about any of you, but I have been doing a genealogy search and have found quite a bit on the internet.  It is enjoyable and fascinating, and so nice to learn about my family.

For the Love of a Horse

Hi everyone!  I found a beautiful short video on horses that I hope you will all enjoy as much as I have.  I am so happy that animals are used to help others, such as the sick, the disabled and the elderly.  They offer unconditional love and can teach us so much!

The photo I am sharing today is one that I took on Friday.  Even though this horse was running inside a very large enclosure for exercise, he came up to see me and allowed me to pet him and take his photo.  :)  You just need to click on the image to see a larger view.

1930's Beauty Salon & My Goose Guide!

Hi everyone!  I know, my post for today has quite a strange name.  :)  Read on and you will see where the title comes from.

Firstly, the video I am sharing today is of a 1930's beauty salon.  I think my men and women readers will enjoy this video, as it is a short one-minute trip down memory lane to an old beauty salon...and the music is quite nice, too.

Now for the photo.  I went today (Friday, April 19) to a farm and for those of you who are my regular readers will recall, my "tour guide" the last time was a nice large dog.  This time my tour guide was a goose!  :)  Here she is.  She was a very gracious host, I must say, and she allowed me to take her photo.  You just need to click on the image to see a larger view.

The weather was very nice and mild, but it was cloudy and very windy.  I didn't mind at all.  Actually, I was very fortunate, because not long after I finished my farm visit and walk, just seconds before I approached a bus shelter to wait for my bus to come back home, it started pouring rain.  So I was happy to be seated comfortably inside the bus shelter, watching and listening to the rain while I waited for my bus.

Baby Cage & Church Photo

Hello everyone!  Firstly, thank you all so much for your responses to my last post.  My friend did re-open her Facebook account and I managed to send her a short and sweet message to let her know that I was concerned and that if she needed to "talk" I am there for her.  She sent me a long message and shared things with me, to which I replied.  Since I respect her privacy I won't go into details, but I feel some relief that she is able to share things with me and that I am able to at least attempt to comfort her.  I feel very honoured that she shared things with me and am grateful to have an opportunity to "listen" and provide some comfort.  Thank you all again!

The video I am sharing today is a baby cage from days gone by which looks kind of scary, but apparently was very safe.  The video is just one minute in length.

The photo I am sharing today is one I took in December, 2011.  You just need to click on the photo to see a larger view.

Just Need to Share Something (Post #2)

Hi everyone!  I don't normally make a second post in one day, but something is bothering me.  I will not make a post tomorrow in order to let you all see the two posts that I have made today.  A friend of mine on Facebook (never met her face to face) sent me a private message telling me that she is feeling depressed and that she is going to close her Facebook account for a while.

I have absolutely no problem with someone taking a break from any social network;  what is bothering me is that I was sent a private message with no way to console her.

Why is is that when someone is depressed they pull away from people?  For those of you who are regular visitors to my blog, you know that I struggle with depression, so it isn't like I don't understand, but what I am trying to say is why is it that people, when depressed, push people away and turn away from people, when they may need some support and love?

Rainy Tuesday

Hello everyone!  Well, it is raining here in Montreal today, so I thought I would make a post to take away the dullness.  The video I am sharing today is from a segment of an episode of Keeping up Appearances, which is a British comedy starring Patricia Routledge.  It is one of my favorites, and I find her so funny.  It is a short two-minute video.

Normally I don't let dull, rainy days affect me but it affected me a bit today.  I hope you all enjoy the humour.  :)

As far as the Blogger reader goes, I really don't understand much about it, and what exactly they have discontinued.  I am still seeing the blogs I follow on my dashboard, so I am glad about that.  I did, however, register with Bloglovin, which was a quick procedure, just in case.  It sent me an e-mail with updates on some of the blogs I follow.  I wasn't sure exactly what Google was referring to and I didn't want to take any chances and lose the updates of the blogs I follow.  I will wait and see how things progress.

The photo I am sharing today is one that I took in January of 2011, in St-Sauveur, Quebec, which is about 45 minutes from Montreal.  I took this photo at sunset.  You just need to click on the image to see a larger view.

Caraboat & Heron

Hi everyone!  The video I have chosen for this post is a short two-minute one.  It is called "Caraboat aka Caravan Boat."  Hope you all enjoy it.  :)

The photo I am sharing today is one that I took a few years ago.  I was taking a nice walk in a park when I saw a heron.  You can see the bird in the tall grass.  They birds stand so still, like statues, so it was a pleasant surprise for me to see the bird.  You just need to click on the image to see a larger view.

My ankle has healed quite nicely, and I am very grateful for this.  Thank you all so much for your prayers and thoughts on my behalf, it means a lot to me.  By the way, have any of you heard that Google is supposed to discontinue the blogreader?  I am assuming this means the blogs we follow that show up on our dashboard.  I saw on another blog that someone said that she registered with Bloglovin and had all the blogs she follows secured this way.  What do you all think?

Dynasphere and Flowers!

Hello everyone!  The video I am sharing today is The Dynasphere, Psychotic 1930's Vehicle.  It is a really neat two minute video which I hope you will all get a kick out of.  :)

The photo I am sharing today is one that I took two years ago.  I just found the colours so bright and pretty.  I found this when I was taking one of my nice walks.  You just need to click on the image to see a larger view.

Cycle-Skating and Shades of Green

Hi everyone!  The video I am sharing in this post is a 1923 video on cycle-skating.  It is a short, one minute video that I found fun and fascinating.  Hope you all enjoy it.

The photo I am sharing this time is one I took a couple of years ago.  I wanted to capture it because I just loved all the shades of green.  Green is my favourite colour.  You just need to click on the image to see a larger view.

Just something I wanted to discuss.  We all get angry from time to time.  How should we deal with the anger, and is it good to stay angry?  How about forgiving someone?  Should there be a time limit on one's anger and/or ability to forgive someone?  Have you ever been in a situation where you had an argument or disagreement with someone and that person held a grudge or stayed angry with you?  If so, how did you deal with this?

A Trip Back in Time

Hi everyone!  Not sure if any of you remember this, but back in the 1960's, when my parents purchased laundry detergent, there was usually a free item inside the box.  This could be a towel, toy or something else.  I do remember the towels, and I think the name of the brands that offered a free towel were Duz and Breeze, if I recall accurately.  Please feel free to share your childhood memories:  your favourite toys and activities.

The video I have chosen for this post is a one minute vintage Ivory Snow TV commercial.

The photo I have chosen for this post is one I took in the summer of 2010...at a greenhouse.  It is a place where you can, for free, go to visit and enjoy all the flowers and plants, fountains and there are even tables with chairs and benches, where you can sit and relax and perhaps even bring a lunch.

Tranquil Thursday

Hi everyone!  The video I am sharing today is a nice relaxing one...Aqua Harp!  Enjoy!

The photo I am sharing is one that I took in the summer of 2010.  I was taking a walk in a park when a squirrel decided to check me out.  It looks like he found something to eat at the same time, so I snapped the photo.  You just need to click on the image to see a larger view.

Wonder Filled Wednesday

Hi everyone!  I use the expression "wonder filled", to describe something amazing, beautiful and wonderful.  An example would be a beautiful, innocent child seeing something for the first time.  That look of wonder..."wonder filled".

The video I am sharing today is called "Reflections of the Soul" by Kevin Doberstein.  It is absolutely beautiful in sound and the nature images are just lovely!  Very soothing and relaxing.  Hope you all enjoy it.

The photo I am sharing today is one that I took a couple of  years ago...it is a view of downtown Montreal.  You just need to click on the image to see a larger view.

Talkative Tuesday

Hello everyone!  I have seen many blogs since I began blogging in February of 2012.  They are all different and some participate in things like A to Z, contests, etc.  While I think it is nice to see and read, I decided when I began my blog not to conform to any rules other than respect and consideration for others.  What I mean to say is that my blog doesn't have any one or two ways to describe it, so it is difficult to categorize.  However, it is a place where I can share my thoughts, news and things I like, as well as my photos with you all, and I like the element of surprise.  Please don't misunderstand what I am saying here, I think it is nice to see topic blogs...photo blogs, garden blogs, pet blogs, etc.  I enjoy reading them;  I just decided to make my blog different so that I can share my wide range of interests.  For example, my taste in music is very wide.  I like some classical, I love songs from the early 1900's to 1940's, and 1950's, 1960's and 1970's.  I love nature videos, clean humour, etc., so the videos I share will be depending on what I feel in the mood for on that day, so you will get a wide variety of things on my page.

This means that I like to be spontaneous and often don't know what my post will be about until just a few hours before I post!  This enables me to share my wide range of interests...and to be myself.  So I want to thank you all for being here and for following me, I really appreciate it very much.

The video I am sharing today is a soothing one...yes, it is a winter scene (I love winter and all seasons, for that matter), but if you don't want to see the winter scene, you can just listen to it while you read my blog and do what you need to do...it has soothing water sounds and there are lovely birds.

I am sharing one more video in this post...it is a one-minute video.  For those of you who make pasta, you may wish to try this, I have tried it for the last several months now and it is fantastic.  I don't eat much pasta, but when I make spaghettini, I use this method, it works very well!

The photo I am sharing in this post is one I took a couple of summers ago.  I just loved the colour and look of it...and hope you all do as well.  You just need to click on the image to see a larger view.

April Showers...and a Little about Myself

Hi everyone!  The video I have chosen for this post is a delightful, colourful video that I think people of all ages will enjoy!  It is a catchy tune and worth a few minutes to watch.

April is usually a rainy month.  I think it is good to remember the old saying, "April showers bring May flowers."

I thought I would use this post to share a few things about myself.

1.  I have always loved the rain, ever since I can remember.  I like the sound and fresh smell of the rain and the rainbow we sometimes see that comes with it.

2.  I love to do crossword puzzles.  Not just crossword puzzles but the mixed ones such as Syllacrostics, Cryptograms and some others.  If a puzzle is too difficult I get discouraged and frustrated.  If it is too easy it isn't a challenge, so the puzzles need to be somewhat of a challenge for me to really enjoy.  Sudoku doesn't interest me, as I like word games.

3.  I am fascinated by some of the technology out there...but a bit uncomfortable with it.  Cell phones, iphones, you name it. When I learn something new I need time to absorb it.  I am a deep thinker and a visual person.  For example, I am much better at watching someone do something...and learning that way than reading manuals and trying to figure out how to do it through the manual.  However, this really depends on how well the manual is written and if there are easy to understand step by step instructions that I can follow.  I have noticed, though, that I learn a lot faster by watching...and with a patient person, and on my own, than any other way.

The photo I am sharing today is one I took a couple of years ago on a walk...in the rain.  I have no idea what these flowers are, but they were soft and beautiful.  You just need to click on the image to see a larger view.

Cell Phones

Hi everyone!  The video I am sharing in this post is a short, one minute video about a restaurant that gives a discount to customers for NOT using their phone!

I personally do not have a cell phone, so you can all guess what my thoughts are on this topic.  :)  If you watch the video, though, I think you will find that the restaurant's reasons for doing this are good.  I think with all the cell phones and other technology today, people sometimes miss out on good, old fashioned, face to face communication and etiquette.  I think a cell phone certainly has its place (in my opinion) for emergencies, but I have noticed when I take the bus that more and more people are just chatting on the phone and often don't even notice the people around them.

The photo I am sharing today is one that I took a few years ago.  You just need to click on the image to see a larger view.

A Trip Down Memory Lane

Hi everyone!  The video I have chosen for this post is Travel Trailer Life in 1937.  I really enjoyed this short, 3 minute video, a great trip down memory lane!

I was wondering if any of you have ever, or dreamed of, having a motor home...or a floating home?  Would you ever enjoy some time in either?

The photo I am sharing today is one I took a few years ago in a Chinese restaurant in Montreal.  It has an aquarium with tilapia in it...and yes, they do sell these fish to customers who want them.  You just need to click on the image to see a larger view.  I took this photo because I just loved the colours!

View of Montreal

Hi everyone!  The video I have chosen for this post is "Aime" by Bruno Pelletier.  "Aime" is French for "love".  It is a beautiful song and there are lovely graphics in this video.  The beauty about music is that it is universal, so I hope you will all enjoy this.  It is my favourite French song, sung with love and comes from the heart.  Bruno Pelletier is a francophone Quebec singer.

The photo I am sharing today is one that I took in Old Montreal in September 2011.  It is the Marche Bonsecours...Bonsecours Market.  You just need to click on the image to see a larger view.

Empire State Building 1938

Hi everyone!  I hope you will all take a moment to check out this one minute video...window cleaners on the Empire State Building, 1938!  I found it to be a fascinating journey back in time.

Now just a quick update on what has been happening with my left ankle.  So yes, it is still painful to walk, so I went to a clinic today.  They did x-rays and what I have is calcium deposits there which is causing the inflammation and pain.  So I have begun taking an anti-inflammatory prescription that the doctor gave me, to be taken twice per day, at meal time.  That's it.

Sorry to have told you all about my ankle, I didn't want to take away from the fun and hopefully encouraging, relaxing part of my blog where I try to post things that will make you all smile.  :)

Birds and Lambs

Hi everyone!  The video I have chosen for this post is a very short, 20 second video.  It is really sweet, hope you enjoy it.

The photo I am sharing today is one that I took at Montreal's Biodome in June 2011.  There were a couple of these birds roaming freely there, very sweet.  But I didn't get the breed of the bird, perhaps one of you will recognize it.  You just need to click on the image to see a larger view.
