It's caused mostly by lack of sunlight, and in the winter in Interior Alaska, we have less than 6 hours of daylight in December. It can be pretty dark and dreary.

This past winter, I added Vitamin D to my morning routine and it was a godsend! I felt so much better this year, and didn't have as many problems with insomnia and the other symptoms of SAD.

Now the light is coming back quickly and soon we'll be up to 24 hours of daylight. I love this time of year!Susan Stevensonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13500332874463941099noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19531357.post-10565791521554045832012-04-09T18:20:34.174-04:002012-04-09T18:20:34.174-04:00I have been prescribed Celexa and have been on it ...I have been prescribed Celexa and have been on it for several months. I have also been helped dramatically from venlafaxine. I was prescribed it for severe hot flashes but found the help with the depression was more dramatic. I never intend to go off of it either.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19531357.post-44950751698673896892012-04-08T16:23:24.655-04:002012-04-08T16:23:24.655-04:00Hi Nita,

I have taken several meds over the years but am currently on venlafaxine 225mg, although I think it will be increased soon.
I have terrible withdrawal from these and minimal side effects that really bother me. Increasing 6 weeks ago brought me out of my worst depression yet. I've been on it for the last 8 years. and I have no intention of coming off it. It's my lifeline.
I should have increased my dose sooner but I kept putting it off but that is part of me being ill, denial.
Nita xThriving rebelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15821433165290048815noreply@blogger.com
