I want to thank you all so much for your kind birthday wishes yesterday, I appreciate it a lot and it means so much to me! One thing I forgot to mention is that when my father heard that my mother gave birth to me, he was so excited that, when he got to the hospital, he almost knocked a hospital staff member over who was carrying some fresh linens. LOL! :) Needless to say, he was very happy, as was my mother. The videos I have chosen for this post are: A Just for Laughs Gag/Juste pour Rire

Hello everyone! A very warm welcome to you all! Today is my birthday. I am 58 years young. :) I was born here in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, in 1956 and have lived here all my life. I am an only child. My mother had 4 miscarriages, then she gave birth to a son (Richard) in 1950. However, Richard's life was a very short one, as he died at the tender age of 7 months (bronchiole pneumonia). After having lost these 5 children, my mother's doctor told her she could not have any more children. Then 6 years later, when she was a few months pregnant, her doctor told her that she was carrying a child. My mother was shocked and said to the doctor, "But you told me 6 years ago that I couldn't have any more children." The doctor said, "Yes, I know....but God has another plan!" They both smiled. So, although I was supposed to be born in November, I was born 3 weeks early, on October 27th at 2 p.m. My mother was very happy but concerned because I weighed just 5 pounds 8 ounces, and I was tiny. The doctors had said that if I weighed 8 ounces less I would have been put in an incubator, but I didn't have to be. However, the doctors kept an eye on me for a while, as my mother had already lost 5 children, they wanted to make certain that she wouldn't lose me! At this time my mother was just 2 months short of her 41st birthday!!! This would be her last chance at being able to have a child. Thankfully all was fine, but there was something different about me. I slept through the night, not waking up for feedings. My mother was nervous and kept waking up anyway, and went to check on me to see if I was still breathing. So she told the doctor about this...that I slept through the night and didn't awaken for feedings. The doctor told her she was blessed, but he understood her concerns. After all, she had lost 5 children and she would be 41 on December 24th! I am going to share a photo with you all. Please be aware that I am not at all photogenic! As well, I lost many of my photos many years ago in a fire, including the negatives, so I have a very limited amount of photos of myself, sadly. This photo was taken in January, 2011 in St. Sauveur, Quebec. No, that isn't my car. You just need to click on the image to see a larger view.
I am going to share two of my favourite songs with you! "To Sir with Love" by Lulu and "Kodachrome" by Paul Simon. :)

Hello everyone! A very warm welcome to you all! A few days ago, not far from here in Montreal, a soldier was run down and killed. Today another soldier was killed (shot) in Ottawa at Parliament. Most of you are aware of the Ottawa incident, and here is a link about the one that happened here in Quebec, before the Ottawa attack. Canadian Soldier Dies in Quebec AttackI wanted to ask you all for your thoughts and prayers for the victims' families and all of us here in Canada at this time. Thank you so much. I took these two photos a few years ago, in a beautiful park with a man made pond here in Montreal! You just need to click on the images to see a larger view.
