Saturday Solace

Hello everyone!  A very warm welcome to you all!  The video I have selected for this post is a lovely old melody entitled "Take Me Back to Old Virginny."  This is a song that was sung on an episode of The Waltons.  Enjoy!

As far as the weather in Montreal goes, you name it, we have had it!  Snow, rain, freezing rain, frigid temperatures!  Now that the temperatures have risen (and it is raining today), the sidewalks and roads are like a skating rink...ice in many places and very dangerous to just walk!  Where there is no ice, on some roads near the curb there are large puddles of water....just one big, dangerous, icy and slushy mess.  It was foggy today, too.

The photos I am sharing today are ones that I took last June. The last two, I believe, are orchids and pansies, but I have no idea what the pink ones in the first photo are.  What I can tell you is that they are delicate and thin, almost looking like paper.  You just need to click on the images to see a larger view.

Thank you all so much for visiting me here!  I always appreciate and enjoy reading your kind thoughts, which you are always welcome to share.

  6. You have REAL winter weather! In Texas today it was 69 degrees and seemed like spring! There have been some years when we didn't even need a winter coat. This year is NOT one of those however!
Lovely pictures......makes me long for REAL spring!

  8. The first ones look like Azaleas. Google the images for them. They are in profusion here in the south in the springtime. I like that you have beautiful summery flowers when it is the exact opposite outside. Flowers always make us smile no matter the weather.

  10. Be careful if you have to go outside. It sounds treacherous!

That's an old song. It used to be the state song of Virginia, but it was removed from that status because of some of the references made in the song.

  17. And we have such a soft winter over here.. no frost, no snow, no ice..!
I think the pink flowers are 'bougainvillea'.. really delicate flowers, needs higher temperatures than we have in the Netherlands usually in summer.
    Bye!
