Wednesday Winter Wonders and Depression

Hello everyone!  A very warm welcome to you all!
I am struggling with depression at this time, and it has been the hardest and worst struggle ever!  This depression is really debilitating.  I just wanted to let you all know this and if my visits and responses to your blogs are less, or nil, you will know why.  The doctor has been adjusting medications, so hopefully we will find the right one and amount that will help. I am also working with a counselor.  I was in an upward spiral about a month ago and now this spiral, unfortunately, has taken a serious nose dive.  I am also dealing with a cold right now, which is not helping.  Thank you so much for your love, support and understanding.  I hope my posts continue to encourage you all or make you smile; just help you in some small way.

The videos I have selected for this post are:

The good news is that you can help your children develop abilities to manage their own risks.

Love is a meeting of two souls fully accepting the dark and the light within each other.

Sometimes it ends up different and it's better that way.

Having a place to go - is a home.  Having someone to love - is a family.  Having both - is a blessing.

Time decides who you meet in your life.  Your heart decides who you want in your life.  And your behavior decides who stays in your life.

Never give up...sometimes the most magical things spring forth from hopes and dreams that once seemed frozen...

It's sometimes funny to watch some people doing something the wrong way but doing it confidently. Even more funny they succeeded. - Toba Beta

I don't chase after people anymore.  If they like spending time with me, they will do so.  If not, I'm content in my own company. - Barry M. Sherbal

Think of using all obstacles as stepping stones to build the life you want. - Marsha Sinetar

I think as you grow older your Christmas list gets smaller and the things you really want for the holidays can't be bought.

You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection. - Buddha

  1. Yes, the old folks here used to say that once the words have left your mouth, you can't put them back anymore.

  3. I'm sorry to hear about your depression. I am in the process of writing about that subject. I have suffered for years with it and avoided medication until I was thirty something. Unfortunately, I know the feeling-when I finally got medication I was off and on by the day and even sometimes the hour-I'm still not perfect at this time but the meds have definitely helped. All I can say is be patient with the medications and know that sometimes it takes time to feel the full effect. I would also suggest exercise-not saying that it cures it but it definitely helps-I am amazed how much it has helped me in recent months, again not a cure but definitely helps with the symptoms. I wish you peace and joy, I just wanted to reach out and tell you. Have a good night.

  8. Sorry things aren't going so well right now, Linda. I hope you feel better soon.

I laughed out loud at the "fowl mood". When I was a child and having a bad day-my mother called it having a bad moon. Maybe there's a picture of a Bad Moon somewhere-I have to look!
    Best to you, Linda

  10. Living in Interior Alaska brings some of the same challenges. This lack of light contributes to feelings of depression in me. I am not in any way minimizing your struggle, as I am fortunate to have a rather inconsequential reaction to SAD, but I know the struggles and fortunately can counteract my darkest days by going outdoors, or spending time with my dog, or just writing about it. I will be so glad when our light is more fully available in March.

I hope that you are feeling better soon. I am happy that the northern lights have been rather active... moving my focus to the colorful lights, rather than the long hours of darkness.

  23. So sorry you're going through that, but I'm glad you're in good hands with a doctor who is helping. In addition to your meds, it might help to spend some time outside each day. It might be too cold for that, though!

  26. Hello, sweet Linda. While you may not feel sweet at this time, you hopefully can look in the mirror and say it out loud, knowing that others so appreciate you, and actually, appreciate you even more than you can know! First, that you educate us, and risk by sharing how you feel. Second, because I know what chemical depression is like. Unfortunately, I cannot use any antidepressants and must go thru the cycle using logic, detachment, and make sure my husband knows. Finally, your heart is so kind and compassionate. You do for others, and inspire others with positive words, images, and laughter, despite what your own needs are. Thank you for being you, Linda. Please never feel you must visit my blog... while your visits are a blessing, you have already blessed me with your blog itself. love and understanding, de
