A true friend doesn't care if you're broke, upset, what you weight, if your house is a mess, what car you drive or if your family is filled with crazy people. They love you for who you are.

I was going to take over the world this morning, but I overslept.  Postponed...again!  :)

We are put in each other's lives to help each other.

A strong woman may remain silent when people talk behind her back, but that doesn't mean she doesn't notice.  It simply means she chooses not to waste her energy on foolishness.  She has more important things to do.

When I look back on my life, I see pain, mistakes and heartache.  When I look in the mirror I see strength, learned lessons and pride in myself.

Always find a reason to laugh.  It may not add years to your life but will surely add life to your years.  :)

Be strong and move on.  It's time for you to be happy again.

When we deny our stories, they define us.  When we own our stories, we get to write a brave new ending. - Brene Brown

It's okay to be scared.  It means you're about to stretch yourself out of your comfort zone and grow a little.

Tell me and I'll forget.  Show me, and I may not remember.  Involve me, and I'll understand. - Chinese Proverb

  18. Dear Linda! What I wish for you, is to believe that 2017 will bring you "the best." Let not lose hope - that is the force that moves us - and be able to always be happy with the less good things, believing that the beginning of a new year allows us to believe that anything is possible.

  28. That PBS video was fascinating! Reminded me of my EEG and how I thought to myself, "I don't really know how all this works, but it must mean something if they're going through all this trouble to take a look at it!"

I also really appreciated the quote about feeling fear and that being okay, it's just a sign that you're about to challenge yourself and grow :o)

    Thanks Linda! Happy New Year!

  37. Linda, Love that teen volunteer talker at the Veterans Hospital! Autistic but he found a purpose that brought him way out of his shell...Good Story! Ducks do nest in the darndest places...median strips, planters, under bushes in front yards, etc., wherever they think might be safe.

The "Nuttin for Christmas" song took me way back...and it reminded me just how old I am! Yikes! I remember that one clearly.

As for oversleeping like that dog...as a retired couple, there is no thing such as oversleeping unless we have a golf outing, we're on a trip or we have a doctor's appointment! Heck, we lose track of which day of the week it is!

Have a Happy and Healthy New Year! Take Care, Big Daddy Dave

  62. Happy New Year, Linda! I thoroughly enjoyed your quotes today, especially about conquering the world LOL One of my promises to myself this year is to not procrastinate in the little things. Somehow, I fell into the habit of thinking that if it was not immediately needed, it was not advantageous to tackle it. So a few months ago, I started, and it has been great "conquering my world" in this way. Especially those times I just don't have it in me to do the work. You know what I mean? I just force myself anyway, and work on it a little at a time until it is done. Amazing how much administrative and deep cleaning type of things I've gotten done in 5 minute increments!

I also appreciate the sentiment about those who talk behind our backs - it always amused me that they would think I was oblivious, when I was just being kind and compassionate. Maybe Graciousness and Kindness are beginning to seem like weakness to many of our society's people. Or perhaps those of us who fall through the cracks are a tad more sensitive to seeing the insecurities of others who feel they are superior or righteous?

I'm probably trying to convey too much in tiny sentences that make me sound UN-nice - but I think you know me well enough to catch the gist of what I mean - thank you for the encouragement and the reminder in your final quote to keep all things in moderation.

Happy New Year, sweet friend! Hoping your year is a big improvement and that the nasty D stays away.
    hugs,
    de

  71. The Cat Art by Tammy Fleetwood Moody was one of my favorites today - I'm teaching that next week and I'll show the kids that picture.

Sorry that I've been away, sweet friend. My mom is suffering from a rapid decline with dementia. Every time I get off the phone with her, I'm in tears. She is SO confused and has turned into a different person. It's sad and drains me.

But it's a new year and I am going forward, looking for the positive in all this. It's there, somewhere.

Hugs and love, my friend. May God bless you richly in the new year. You deserve it!
