Kent, England

Today I am sharing some photos and talking about a place that I have never been!  My grandparents on my father's side were born in Kent, England...and my father had the opportunity to see it.  I have never had the opportunity to visit England.

My father's mother was born in Dover, Kent, and his father was born in Dartford, Kent.  From the photos I have seen, Kent is a really beautiful place!  If I ever do get the opportunity to visit there I have a feeling that I wouldn't want to leave!

I know very little about genealogy, but I am fascinated with discovering about my grandparents and great grandparents.  Thankfully I was able to obtain some information thanks to some very kind people whom I have never met via the internet as far as the names and birthplaces of my great grandparents.  Since my parents died when I was in my 20's and they really didn't tell me anything about their families, I decided to try and find out what I could via the internet and thankfully some people were able to help me...and I really appreciate their kindness!

The photos I am sharing here are all in Kent, England...I will specify the actual area in which they are, and these are photos I found via the internet.

Dartford....

Dover....

Walking White Cliffs of Dover....

Canterbury....

Thank you all so much for dropping by!  I enjoyed sharing these photos...it is like taking a photo walk of the place where my grandparents and great grandparents once walked.  Please feel free to share your own memories and thoughts by clicking on the "comments" link at the end of my post.

  4. I love the white cliffs and that pretty green hotel...I want to stay there! My great-great grandfather came over here from England on a tramp steamer. I believe he was the cook.
