Anne Frank House

Going on the assumption that we are all familiar with Anne Frank and The Diary of Anne Frank, I was wondering if any of you have had the opportunity to visit the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam.
Having read The Diary of Anne Frank and knowing what she went through as such a young girl, I think she was an amazing, strong and beautiful person.

I really appreciate your visits here as well as reading your thoughts.  Please click on the 'comments' link at the end of my post to share.

  1. I have not visited the house in person but have seen the interior in a number of videos. Lois Anne was a language arts teacher and taught the story of The Diary of Anne Frank. She was, indeed, an usual young lady caught up in the maelstrom of war and hatred.

  3. I've been to Amsterdam, but not to the house.
The book is such a clear account that I feel that the house would not add to it...but i know a lot of people think differently.

    1. I agree. I think that visiting the house would hit "home" on a more emotional level in the sense that one would feel more deeply, in a sense...if that makes any sense. LOL! Her diary is so detailed and explains so much, though, that one cannot help but feel deeply moved by reading it.

I am indeed aware. A few days ago I even wrote a post about my visit to the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam. Have you see the article?

    1. Hi Anne-Marie, thanks for your comment. I also read her diary...a couple of times, actually, but I don't remember the first time I read it (as to how old I was)...only how much it touched me. I would love to visit the house as well.

  6. A writer friend of mine visited the house last year. She said it was an intensely powerful experience. This friend wrote about how she was a child in London during the bombing at the same time Anne was writing her diary. While those two girls were living the horrors of WWII, I was riding my tricycle in sunny California. Sometimes I feel a little guilty about that.
