SAD

Hi everyone!  I suppose some of you are curious as to the title of this post.  I am referring to SAD = seasonal affected disorder.  Although I struggle with depression, I have been known to get depressed even in the summer, but I can definitely empathize with others who struggle with any mental illness.

As far as SAD goes, the reason I chose to talk about it in this post is because this winter in particular has been extremely difficult...well, it has been in Montreal.  Yesterday we had rain, there is still some areas where there are no sidewalks, albeit minimal as compared to the last time I talked about it, but since we had the rain yesterday now we have huge puddles and slush in many areas to cope with, along with the mountains of snow...which are starting to melt, as the temperatures have been mild over the last few days.  Now they are calling for some freezing rain.

Anyway, enough of that, I just wanted to update you all on how things have been here.

I am wondering if any of my fellow bloggers have been keeping track of their stats as far as visitors go.  I am noticing that I have QUADRUPLE the amount of visitors that I normally get...today.  Just today, so far, but I am wondering how this is, suddenly increasing four times the amount of visitors in one day.  Phenomenal!

Thank you all so much for visiting me here.  I really appreciate reading your thoughts, which you can always share by clicking on the 'comments' link at the end of my post.

  1. I've noticed that the stats for my blog can fluctuate wildly from day to day. I've never been able to make much sense out of it.

SAD is a very serious problem for some people.

  2. I suspect that a lot of folks have, or know someone who has the problem. That may be the reason for the extra traffic.

  5. I get depressed in summer too. Most of it is the sun's fault though since I work a lot outside.

  6. Phil had SAD for many years. The doctor recommend the indoor lights, or just a tiny bit of meds. We did not do that and it soon turned into full fledged depression and now he has to take Prozac. I hope you can go to a doctor for a conference, there is lots out there that can help.

  8. SAD is quite usual, as I understand it. And it's easy for me to become a bit depressed in cold, wet, gloomy weather. That's a major reason I live in Florida.

Congrats on all the hits! Check to make sure they are not spam, though. I'll get up to 50 hits a day sometimes that are nothing but spam. :-)

And have a wonderful Friday and weekend!

  9. Hi Linda. I know snow & rain & slush & puddles can be depressing. But look at the brighter side of things - all this will be over soon and spring& summer & bright sunshine & greenery will follow soon. And regarding your followers quadrupling it's a stray phenomenon but also I feel your viewership is definitely growing.
    Cheers ! Ram

  10. Hi, Linda! Most of our snow has melted & we had rain yesterday. Lots of puddles, but the sun is shining & the predicted high for the day is 62 degrees. I'm thinking tropical thoughts! THEN we are preparing for some freezing rain & snow on Saturday night. We will take the bad with the good & count our many blessings.
The DR. switched my anxiety/depression med about 30 days ago. It's like the difference between night & day. People who have never dealt with depression can not relate to the abyss we fall into, or the seeming impossibility of the climb to freedom. My husband once told me that I could get over this if I wanted to. We've suffered in silence for too long, afraid of the stigma attached to mental illness. Thank you for opening the door.
    Much Love,
    Kim

  11. I agree that this winter has been depressing! We've been having freezing rain on top of the snow and everything is iced over and slippery.

  12. Well Linda, it's depressing about the weather, over here, we haven't had the snow, but, we have had the rain, gushing down. And, when its not doing either, it is cloudy.
