1930's Beauty Salon & My Goose Guide!

Hi everyone!  I know, my post for today has quite a strange name.  :)  Read on and you will see where the title comes from.

Firstly, the video I am sharing today is of a 1930's beauty salon.  I think my men and women readers will enjoy this video, as it is a short one-minute trip down memory lane to an old beauty salon...and the music is quite nice, too.

Now for the photo.  I went today (Friday, April 19) to a farm and for those of you who are my regular readers will recall, my "tour guide" the last time was a nice large dog.  This time my tour guide was a goose!  :)  Here she is.  She was a very gracious host, I must say, and she allowed me to take her photo.  You just need to click on the image to see a larger view.

The weather was very nice and mild, but it was cloudy and very windy.  I didn't mind at all.  Actually, I was very fortunate, because not long after I finished my farm visit and walk, just seconds before I approached a bus shelter to wait for my bus to come back home, it started pouring rain.  So I was happy to be seated comfortably inside the bus shelter, watching and listening to the rain while I waited for my bus.

Thank you all so much for visiting me here!  I really appreciate and enjoy reading your kind thoughts, which you are always welcome to share by clicking on the 'comments' link at the end of my post.

  1. Looks like a Greylag goose? And maybe ready to lay eggs. Maybe if you return, she will have hatched babies. I remember when they used those electrocution thigies in beauty parlors.

  3. How nice that you were able to visit a farm and be escorted or led about by a goose. Your post reminded me of the Preston Fishing Camp on Lake Texhoma in Texas. We would take the family fishing there - in the early 70s. They had several geese at the camp. The geese were mean. They chased you and tried to bite you. And it hurt when they bit!

I don't remember beauty salons in the 30s - I was a bit too young. But the people I knew generally did not patronize such places - they were too expensive!

Have a wonderful weekend, my friend!

  5. an interesting look at how those hairstyles were created all those decades ago. it's fun to imagine that maybe in 80 years, people in the future will find videos of our current everyday lives to be fascinating too :D and that's a beautiful goose, it looks like it's in excellent shape and has very healthy feathers! =)

  6. Nos amies les oies sont de grandes "commères" souvent et elles sont tellement curieuses qu'elles attisent la nôtre.
Une très jolie photo et une charmante publication.
Je vous souhaite un agréable week-end.
    Gros bisous

  9. I thought I'd take a 'Gander' over here today.
I agree it looks very much like the Greylags I photographed the other week.
Love the video, as a boy I remember my five aunties (mums sisters) always having perms with the rollers in.

  18. It’s just great to see this video. It’s so rare. Thanks for sharing this video with everyone. The blog is also good. Moreover I would like to say that if you reside at Waterford Ireland and searching for a good beauty salon then you can go to Michalinas Nail Bar & Beauty.
