Thursday Fun

Hello everyone!  The video I have chosen for this post is a fun song..."Laurel & Hardy - The Cricket Song 1938 Swiss Miss"  Enjoy!

The photos I am sharing are of two books that I have read and enjoyed!  I got the first book, "A Cup of Comfort for Friends", for $1.00 at a thrift store!  I just love thrift stores and often find gems such as this book when I visit them!  What type of books do you enjoy reading?

Quotation:  A gentle word, a kind look, a good-natured smile can work wonders and accomplish miracles.

Thank you all so much for visiting me here!  I always appreciate and enjoy reading your kind thoughts, which you are always welcome to share by clicking on the 'comments' link at the end of my post.

  1. I confess to liking murder mysteries. John Sandford is my favorite author. I also like romances. Debbie Macomber is one of my favorites.

  2. As usual with your quotes, I love today's also. That is the way I have generally tried to treat people - - - especially the public when I dealt with them.
I did not remember Laurel and Hardy singing - - just the comedy so that was a new discovery for me from you.
I love Christian Biographies and some Christian Fiction but nothing scary or suspenseful - - - and not too simple or sappy either. I like thrift stores but have not bought any books in a long time. I have too many here to read. Plus we have our church library and the public library so my options are many. Hope your day today is great!

  3. I've enjoyed a wide variety of books in my time. I actually have enjoyed Stephen King's stuff but have lately been into more historical books such as "Killing Lincoln".

  4. ooh, i'm more of a magazine reader. i don't have much discipline most of the time to wade through thicker books, so i prefer to read shorter articles, heh =) 'a cup of comfort for friends' sounds like a really nice book though. i hope you enjoy every page of it :D

  11. I love all sorts of books! Daily reading includes the Bible, a devotional book (Streams in the Desert), an out loud book (Paul Harvey's The Rest of the Story), The Language of Letting Go, all of this is in the morning. Then I have a current book going - now an old Readers Digest Condensed Book from 1987. So many books to choose from!
Thrift Stores? I shop there every week!!!

  12. bonjour Linda, j'aime bien de temps en temps lire, tout style, les deux derniers livres que j'ai achetés étaient
l'un sur les mots (comme un dictionnaire mais amusant)
l'autre sur le bien-être des chats,
    bises

  13. my husband laughs so much at Laurel and hardy videos and the three stooges. I am sure he remembers the cricket song. :) I like books that make me laugh and vintage devotional. I also can not pass up poetry books. Thrift stores and garage sales are a great place to find books.

  14. Hi Linda, I'm a Son of the Desert and my tent or oasis is 'Their Purple Moment' tent of Stranraer.
Our tent meet on the first Tuesday of every month.
I see the full film 'Swiss Miss' is now available on Youtube. There's plenty of laughs in it.
I like the sound of the Great Big Bathroom reader since it's where I do most of my reading.
