Sharing About Myself (long post) Thank you for Reading!

Hello everyone!  A very warm welcome to you all!  The video I have chosen for this post is a beautiful 4 minute clip entitled "Yiruma - Moonlight + Forest Sound".  Enjoy!

If you are a regular reader to my blog, you know that I love to share a video and my photos, as well as quotes on my blog and that I find having this blog very therapeutic.

Whether or not you are a regular reader, I am about to share some things here that I haven't yet shared, so I thank you for taking the time to read this.

1.  I was born in Montreal on October 27th, 1956.  In 1961, when I was only 4 years of age, the doctors discovered that one of my kidneys was not functioning as it should.  In fact, it was pretty bad.  It was my right kidney.  The doctors told my parents that if they did NOT remove this kidney, I would surely die.  If they DID remove it, I had a 50% chance to live. Thankfully my parents opted to have the bad kidney removed and I have been living with one kidney since 1961!

2.  I was married in 1983.  After 15 and a half years of marriage, in 1998, my husband decided that he wanted a divorce. During our marriage it was discovered that I was unable to have children, so no children were born in this marriage. Anyway, always having tried to be positive, and this includes what I say about other people, I never talked about this until now.  All I will say is that both of us were at fault, and for myself, I chose not to remarry.  I am happy with the great friends I have and feel very grateful for the people in my life. My ex-husband has moved to the U.S.  He remarried not too long after our divorce, but his second wife divorced him.  He is now remarried, his third marriage.  I wish him all the best.

3.  Since the onset of my menopause 10 years ago I have dealt with a variety of health issues from uveitis, being the first (thankfully I had this extremely painful optic disorder only once), diverticulitis, pseudogout and a few others.  All in all I feel very blessed, as although I have osteoarthritis I really don't get much pain.

4.  When I was in grade 2, a teacher, in her opinion, felt that I should be put in a "special class" for "slow learners."  I have always been quiet, more of a listener than a talker, and am a very deep thinker.  Perhaps I may have been a LITTLE slower than some of the students in the learning process, but quite honestly, I feel that this teacher just misunderstood my personality and felt that I belonged in this class.  People who know me, both on the internet and face to face, are totally astonished that I was put in this special class.  See, I like to take my time and analyze things before I make a decision, I try to think before I speak, and 'I am the type of person who likes to learn things well.  For example, let's say I make an error whilst I am on the computer and something (that "shouldn't" happen) happens.  I want to understand how and why it happened, as the more I understand, the easier it is for me to remember should something occur in the future.

5.  Thankfully most of the jobs I have worked at in the past have been enjoyable, and my bosses were kind, patient and understanding.  There was one particular job that I worked at, though, where the supervisor was an absolute tyrant!  She yelled, had no patience and exploded without warning.  As a result I was very nervous around her and my performance was not nearly as good at it could have been in a more relaxed setting!  Needless to say, I did that job for just 3 weeks and got laid off.  I, in my own defense, explained to the government exactly what happened, that this lady was a tyrant and shouted, etc., etc.  They wrote down what I told them and I was able to claim employment insurance.

6.  I think that kindness, a word of encouragement, a hug, a gentle touch can go a long way!  Therefore I always try to be constructive, honest and kind in my dealings with others.

Wow!  This has been a long post, but I thank you all so much for "listening", and I hope that everything I have shared here has helped you to get to know me better.

The photos I am sharing today are ones that I took on a recent walk.  These lovely orange blossoms are called Chinese lanterns.  You just need to click on the images to see a larger view.

Thank you all so much for visiting me here!  I always appreciate and enjoy reading your kind thoughts, which you are always welcome to share by clicking on the 'comments' link at the end of my post.

  1. I admire your transparency about your life with us - - your readers. You have made many supportive friends on your blog and we applaud you that you have not let these things become obstacles in your life. One thing I have noticed in just the short time I have been reading your posts is you seem to have become more confident - - and you are dealing well with the depression issues you have/had. In fact, I notice a LOT of optimism in your writing!!! I am glad I am one of your followers and part of your life now.

  2. Well, SOME posts do get on a soapbox and go on and on endlessly, but NOT you! You have written about yourself so candidly and truthfully that I was surprised when it was done, I wanted to know more. For another thing, I now feel like I know you even better, and that makes for better blogging buddies, too. You are very sensitive, just like I used to be, I was always crying, so I really understand. Then you also have had such scary health problems, again just like me, so I feel a bit connected with you. You are seven years younger than me. I also think it is SO really hard to be so sensitive and have so many bad health problems, which a lot of people do not understand. Especially the ones who have never been sick before. I love your beautiful little Chinese Lanterns!

  3. Everyone needs to tell their story at one point in time to others. It is just healthy to look at who you have become and how you got there. Sometimes it is just good to clear out the hurts or the problems that we all have in our lives. Good for you.

  5. Wonderful words, and I'm sure we know you so much better now, in life we get hurdles, not of our own making, and to jump over takes courage and fortitude, I can see you have these in heaps. Chinese Lanterns, my Mum grew this, in the deep ;pink shade on our farm when I was a child. So your photo brings wonderful memories to me, Thanks so much.LOL, Jean.

  6. Thank you for sharing about yourself, Linda. I am an introvert like you, and sometimes I don't think other, more extroverted people, understand that though we may be quiet, a lot is going on in our minds!

I very much admire your tolerant and kind attitude and way of being. Your kindness just shines through your blog posts and in your comments. :-)

Those are such pretty blossoms--they remind me of little pumpkins.

I listened to the music and the birds as I read your post, and it was most enjoyable. As others have said, it is great that you are so honest and open. You strike me as a very contented person, someone who sees the positives in every situation. It is the best way to be.

  19. I am very glad you shared things about your life, too. It helps us to know each other better. I realize more and more why we like each other and feel good visiting. It has amazed me to learn how much we all have in common as women. And you can't get to my age without having suffered some hard times along the way. Very nice post my friend. And I love the sweet lanterns. How perfect for Fall! Sweet hugs!

  23. I am against the easy classification of people that those in authority are so prone to do....we need to see each other as individuals, who act and react differently.

  29. Thank you for sharing about yourself which is not easy to do. Your blog friends appreciate you for who you are and the way you approach life.
You have overcome many difficulties and sharing will encourage others, I'm sure. The Chinese lanterns you saw on your walk are so pretty. I do love to see them at this time of the year.

  30. I, also, really appreciate how openly and genuinely you've shared here about yourself. You've certainly had some bumps in the road of life, but those bumps have contributed to the character that you display here.

You're so right about how a good boss supports and encourages, rather than demeaning those who work for him. I had a boss who always showed me such respect and appreciation for anything I did that it made me want to live up to his opinion of me. I've had the other kind of boss, too; and it wasn't a fun job.
