In the 1940's and 1950's we had a phone on a wooden stand, that attached to the wall.We were on a "party line" with several other farms in our area, so every one had a morse code letter at the end of their number. All those years back, and I still remember ours was "325D", so our ringtone was one long and 2 shorts. Snow, the sign of winter for sure. Greetings from Jean.
ReplyDeleteThe snowflakes are so pretty! I love the individual designs in each flake. You take such fun photos from inside the bus shelters!
ReplyDeleteLovely photo of the snowflakes Linda and that phone was really interesting.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I remember those phones!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I remember those telephones, although we had the old black, dial phones, on a party line. The snow flakes on the bus shelter are really neat. Great capture!
ReplyDeleteRan across your comment at Lucy's blog and decided to pay you a visit. No snow flakes here but it's 41* and we think that's plenty cold. Paula from south Texas
ReplyDeleteThe snowflakes photo is nice.
ReplyDeleteI have to say these phones must have been before my time, I have never seen r heard one before. But I bet my mom would have recognized it. We were both telephone operators.
ReplyDeleteMuistan hyvin ne puhelimet kun tulivat. lumihiutaleet ovat kauniita.
ReplyDeleteTerveisiä , hyvää viikon loppua Linda :)
the imprints from the snowflakes on the glass are really cool! great shot of that =)
ReplyDeleteI remember the bakelite phones in the office as a young apprentice.
ReplyDeleteAs a kid, my first memory of bakelite was a "View-Master". Seeing exotic views in our own home opened up a whole new world.
My first bakelite purchase on my own was a dual radio/tape recorder with a built in alarm clock. I was in heaven !
We didn't have one in town though ours was one of those on the wall, our phone number was 1095-L and we told the operator! My aunts and uncles in the country had these ones...brrr to your lovely snowflakes :-).
ReplyDeleteYo no recuerdo esos telefonos, los he visto en los film antiguos.
ReplyDeleteLa foto de la nieve produce mucho frío.
Good morning Linda, what a nice surprise to have a lovely Canadian lady. visit. I had a Canadian friend before I even had a blog but met her where she was taking questions about dogs, Turned out being both dog lovers we kept in touch for several years. She was much younger than I . I am so glad you stopped by. Please return again..
ReplyDeleteThat photo makes me long for snow. We don't get a lot here in KY but I always get so excited and happy when we do get it. I hope we have a snowy winter here. I'm weird I know :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely photo of snowflakes :)
ReplyDeleteGreetings !
No, I don't remember those phones!
ReplyDeleteWe are supposed to be getting some snow tonight.
My kids can't even imagine phones with cords...different times! Those are some huge flakes! Ours are melting some now...it's been slick on the roads. Blessings to you my friend.
ReplyDeleteOn a good day, I like the big fluffy snow sticking to everything. Great photo and phone.
ReplyDeleteI remember the bakelit phones, Linda, without the bells on the top.
ReplyDeleteLie(f)s.
Look at those flakes! Can't wait to get some snow around here, so I put the macro lens to work!
ReplyDeleteThose are big snowflakes!
ReplyDeleteHi Linda. I don't remember that kind with the bells on top...we must have had something a little different here.
ReplyDeleteLOVE that photo! You have a good 'eye' Linda!
Strangely enough I remember the ones from the forties, with a crank, a speak sticking out of the was and the receiver on a cord you held up to your ear. Also party lines and an operater who made the connection for you..... Ok I admit it. I'm getting really old....
