Fun Filled Friday

Hello everyone!  A very warm welcome to you all!  The video I have selected for this post is a classic TV gameshow called "What's My Line?"  Phyllis Diller is the guest celebrity on this one.  I just love her laughter!  She was a great comedienne. Enjoy!  :)

It was announced not too long ago that Canada Post will be stopping home mail delivery altogether in Montreal.  They are saying that they are losing a LOT of money, because people just aren't using the traditional postal mail anymore due to the increased use of the internet.  Many people are not very happy about this, but Canada Post says it is necessary.  I am not certain as to the exact time they will stop home mail delivery, but it is in the near future.  They will implement a community mailbox system throughout the city.  I have seen these already in more remote areas.

The photo I am sharing today is of a Canada Post delivery van.  I took it a couple of years ago.  You just need to click on the image to see a larger view.

Thank you all so much for visiting me here!  I always appreciate and enjoy reading your kind thoughts, which you are always welcome to share.

  1. Phyllis Diller, MY ALL TIME FAVOURITE, I've just watched this three times and will again before I go! My family and friends in B.C. have being telling me this is the way the Post is going there too...I would imagine that Internet has touched this domain too. However at least we've still opportunity to send mail the old fashioned yet.

  5. We, too, are threatened with a street's worth of mail boxes in one place. I am not impressed.

  6. That's sad to hear no more mail delivery in Canada. The US Postal service keeps threatening to reduce mail delivery but it hasn't happened yet....

  7. She is a real star. Down here, also, mail deliveries in some areas are being reduced, telephone boxes are now hot Wifi spots, signs of our times. Fond greetings from Jean

  10. seems most postal systems around the world are going through a bit of a crisis. You'd think with all the packages with online shopping, that it would make up for the lack of letters.

  14. Here in Finland the post has great economical problems, and they have talked about delivering only three times a week. Seems to be same problem everywhere.

  16. I've read about this happening here in the states eventually as well, as people hardly send mail anymore. Kind of sad isn't it?

  18. A lot of ppl have stopped using snail mail, but we still try to send Christmas cards to our relatives every year (instead of e-cards) as it feels more personal.:)

  19. I used to watch that show, too. It was really good and I admire the imposters who had to study so hard to help fool the panel. What a shame about the post office. If it is like in our country, there is unnecessary spending and that has caused much of the problem. The internet does play a part in it but they need to examine their budget, too.

  20. Wow, that's quite a step. I've heard talk here of stopping delivery on Saturday but never entirely. You'd think the Internet ordering would increase home delivery. We are very warm today...I would say a must walk day!
