Friday Fulfillment and More about Myself

Hello everyone!  A very warm welcome to you all!

The weather has been gorgeous here in Montreal!  I have been taking some lovely long walks.  On one of these walks I visited a farm where there are many horses, a pig, some deer, an alpaca and some ducks and geese.  Well, I came across a gaggle of 3 geese...I don't know their breed, but they were large and white with orange beaks.  As soon as they saw me coming down the path they started their squawking.  They made certain to "let me know" in no uncertain terms that this was their territory.  They greeted me with their squawks, and myself, knowing and understanding their 'language', I knew that it was quite possible that they could attack me.  LOL!  So I just continued walking slowly and deliberately, gently, showing them that I posed no threat to them.  They chased me down the path and kept squawking until they were satisfied that I was out of their 'jurisdiction.' None of them attacked me, but I knew the potential was there...however, the path that I was walking on was narrow and it was very difficult to avoid them. On the positive side, I got to pet one of the horses who seemed to enjoy my company as much as I enjoyed his/hers.  I love horses, and living in a big city like Montreal I don't get to see them often, so this was such a joy and treat for me.  The farm that I went to is about an hour away (bus ride). Just had to share this adventure with you all.  :)

The videos I have selected for this post are:

A Just for Laughs Gag/Juste pour Rire

Iranian Sharbat (Thirsty for)

Handwritten Love Letters Change Strangers Lives

The Coffee Song - Harry Arnold (1948)

Greatness comes not from the job you hold, money you have, your race, political views or your status.
Greatness comes in treating others with kindness and compassion.

A smile is the window on your face that shows that there is light within.

If you want to feel rich, just count the things you have that money can't buy.

There are still a lot of treasures left in this world to be found, just remember your soul is one of them. - Troy Snider

Thank you all so much for visiting me here!  I always enjoy and appreciate reading your kind thoughts, which you are always welcome to share.

  1. Oh MY! You were very wise to recognize why the ducks were doing this. Bravo for not turning and running! Wish I could have seen it! Yes, ducks can get very mad! I am glad you came out of it unscathed and unpecked.

  8. Yes, I saw this Hallmark movie about this soldier who received a Christmas card from someone who sent them to soldiers abroad at random...and when he went back home, he went in search of her. Very nice love story - I enjoyed watching it!

    >I don't know their breed, but they were large and white with orange beaks.

Yes, I think I know. It's the Chinese geese (the white type).
That's another one, the grey type.

  15. Good morning, dear Linda! For many years I lived in a small city known for its many lakes. Several of those lakes have paved bicycle and walking paths. Ducks and geese inhabit the lakes and I have seen them chase people as they stroll by. I love to pet horses! Writing letters by hand seems like a lost art in the new millennium. It is an act of kindness and generosity. When lonely or sick people receive handwritten letters from strangers it lets them know that somebody cares, lifts their spirits and gives them hope. I enjoyed "The Coffee Song." Notice how the big band plays for a minute-and-a-half before the vocal even gets started. That's how it was in the 40s when the band was just as important as the singer, even more so!

Have a safe and happy weekend, dear friend Linda!

  16. Mornin' Linda, Lovely set. I particularly enjoyed the video about the love letters since I was a pen pal to soldiers in Vietnam when I was 15 years old. I still send letters to loved ones, especially elderly who do not have computers. I think it's important to do.
    Have a wonderful day!

  30. Happy Friday, Linda!
Your trip to the farm reminded me of how excited little kids can get when they see farm animals. So many urban kids have never seen a cow or a chicken. When I took my kiddos to the zoo on field trips in the spring, I always had to watch my students around the Canada geese because they often had eggs or goslings they were protecting. It's hard for excited kids to walk slowly, deliberately, and gently.

I've got to remember the Polish proverb: "Not my circus! Not my monkeys!" It really puts things in perspective!

If you want to read a wonderful picture book on what is rich and meaningful in life, I recommend Byrd Baylor's "The Table Where Rich People Sit." I read it to my kiddos almost every year. Another good one of hers is "I'm in Charge of Celebrations." Hopefully they would be in a library, if you frequent one. Have a good one! Hugs.

  33. We've had a nasty down turn to our weather...wet 'n gloomy. I'd love to walk today but I'm unsure of how likely it will be to happen. I enjoyed hearing of your walk.

  34. Like you I didn't gret the "Canada" joke this time Linda. Never mind, I enjoyed the quote "If you want to feel rich, just count the things you have that money can't buy."

Yes, I'm back from Menorca now and catching up.
