Mid-Week Winter Warmth and About My Christmas

Hello everyone!  A very warm welcome to you all!
I had a great time on Christmas day!  A couple of friends of mine invited me over to their place for Christmas dinner and it was wonderful!  There were 7 of us in all, not a large group, but it was very nice. My friends are great hosts and had 5 guests, including myself. We had a delicious meal consisting of:  a platter of fresh vegetables....broccoli, cauliflower, carrots and celery, and there was a really nice dip for them.  We had turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, and Tourtiere pie (meat pie).  And the turkey was really delicious, so moist, tender and flavourful!  My friends have a Rival counter top roaster, and they used it to make the turkey. Perhaps one day I will be able to purchase one myself.

One friend gave me a lovely and warm (also waterproof) pair of gloves.  They are so warm and comfortable, perfect for our cold Montreal winter days.  Another friend gave me a $25 gift card, and another friend gave me a $15 gift card.  Another friend gave me $20 and I feel really blessed to have great friends.  So my Christmas was quiet but quiet is great for me and I enjoyed the time I spent with my friends.  :)  I hope you all had a great Christmas. Thank you so much for being here!  :)

I am grateful for...the people who make me laugh a little harder, smile a little brighter and love a little deeper.

Happiness is the spiritual practice of living every moment with love, grace and gratitude.

I'm just thankful for everything, all the blessings in my life, trying to stay that way.  I think that's the best way to start your day and finish your day.  It keeps everything in perspective. - Tim Tebow

A bird sitting on a tree is never afraid of the branch breaking, because her trust is not on the branch but on her own wings.  Always believe in yourself.

Gratitude is an expression of humility, a recognition that even before we ask, good has been given to us.

Keep walking through the storm...your rainbow is waiting on the other side. - Heather Stillufsen

Looking back on 2016, I can appreciate those who never gave up on me.

People will always notice the change in your attitude towards them but they will never notice it's their behavior that made you change.

People come and go in life, but the right ones will always stay!

In 2017, do good and expect good things to come back to you.

Don't rush anything.  When the time is right, it'll happen.

Love has no season.

True friends not only stay by your side in life's storms...they help you laugh again.

It's okay if you get a little tangled in your tree sometimes.  Drink a cup of hot co-coa-coa, bungle up your mistletoes...and fa-la-la love yourself anyway!  :)

Thank you all so much for visiting me here!  I always appreciate and enjoy reading your kind thoughts, which you are always welcome to share!

  16. Good Morning, sweet Linda! Sounds as though your Christmas celebration was pure delight! It's always humbling and great to be around genuine friends, and bring that joy with us, and take a little of theirs away in our hearts.

I have been in an exacerbation since Dec 23, but it's not as bad physically as many have been, so I'm grateful for that. But I was not able to visit as often as I'd like. You are always in my thoughts, and have inspired me greatly. Thank you for that treasure, Linda.

Hoping your New Year is healthy and enjoyable, Linda, all year long. hugs, de

  26. Linda, I checked out the menu for your favorite chicken menu. I love chicken on the rotisserie but my favorite chicken is fried chicken...not fried chicken 'tenders' or 'fingers', but rather whole pieces of chicken.

Your Christmas gathering sounds great! I would especially like the meat pies. They're hard to find down here in the states but we've eaten them in the upper Midwestern US, in Canada, Scotland and in New Zealand. They are always a treat for us.

That story about Santa Claus and the dying boy started here in East Tennessee. It's a great story and I believe its true. The press went after "Santa" since they couldn't verify his story as he wouldn't identify the child or family involved. He'd promised not to tell. He regretted telling anyone the story because he was roundly attacked by many who doubted him. He had nothing to gain by telling the story so I'm on his side!

I didn't know that elephants only sleep about 4 hours a day and that giraffes sleep even less! As for that puppy that was given to the marine with PTSD, one of our neighbors regularly fosters dogs to determine if they have the temperament to act as a service dog. I love animals...they tend to calm the human soul.

    Take Care, Big Daddy Dave
