First Post of 2017 and Sharing About Myself

Hello everyone!  A very warm welcome to you all! Happy 2017!  A sincere and heartfelt thank you to each and every one of you!  My blog has been getting a large amount of visits and comments, and I wish to thank you all so much for being a part of this!  It touches my heart deeply to know that so many of you are looking at my posts.  I do hope that you receive some benefit from them!  Thank you so much!  Warm hugs and much love to you all!  :)

I absolutely love the winter!  I know that this may get moans and groans from some of you, but I do love the winter!  What I do not like is ice and freezing rain.  I just make sure that I am well and warmly dressed, and I love to come home to a warm place after being out in the cold, and making a nice cup of hot chocolate!  I actually handle the cold weather better than I do the heat and humidity.  I can always put on an extra sweater when it is cold, but when it is too hot I have to be careful, because I am prone to getting heat stroke.  So on the very hot and humid days I try to stay, as much as possible, in an air conditioned setting.  I also get sunburned very easily, too. I consider myself blessed to be living in Montreal, where we have the four seasons and the beautiful colours and different weather that go with them.  :)  This is enough for this post, thank you so much for reading.  :)

The videos I have selected for this post are:

Futzuki - The Pain Relieving Reflexology Mat

Here is What Happens if You Eat Honey and Cinnamon Daily

Soldier Reunites with Cat he had in Afghanistan

Loyal Dog Jumps on Hospital Bed to Comfort Boy with Autism

Great Dance Routine - James Cagney and Bob Hope

For the following, I am providing the link sources beneath each photo.  You just need to click on the images to see a larger view.

It is not what we get.  But who we become, what we contribute...that gives meaning to our lives. - Tony Robbins

Peace on earth.

This year, I've been through a lot.  There's been enough ups and downs that I could easily say it's been a bad year, but I'm still here.  I'm still able to learn, grow, smile past the struggle, and count my blessings.  So for that, I just want to say thank you to everyone and everything that's still in my life.

The most valuable gift you can receive is an honest friend.

Today be thankful and think how rich you are.  Your family is priceless.  Your health is wealth.  Your time is gold.

This January, why not start the year with an empty jar and fill with notes about good things that happen. Then, on New Years Eve, empty it and see what awesome stuff happened that year.

You may have a negative past, but it doesn't mean it has to become your future.  Leave it behind you by focusing on the positive right now.

A good life is when you assume nothing, do more, smile often, dream big, laugh a lot, and realize how blessed you are for what you have.

Fairy lights and pretty things all the magic Christmas brings.  That every lovely dream comes true, all this and more, is my wish for you.

I am learning to trust the journey even if I don't understand it.

Thank you all so much for visiting me here!  I always appreciate and enjoy reading your kind thoughts, which you are always welcome to share!

  14. Happy New Year to you Linda, I’m looking forward to more of your lovely posts in 2017. I’m afraid I don’t like the cold very much. It upsets my bones somehow, and I end up with lots of aches and pains. I don’t like it too humid either, but I do like to be warm. I’m now going to enjoy all the good things in today’s post while enjoying a cup of tea.

  18. I've seen that Futzuki thing advertised on television. It caught my attention because I'm dealing with some Plantar Fasciitis pain right now. I love the video about the sweet dog and the boy with autism. And I'm tempted to add honey and cinnamon to my daily regimen, after seeing that video. I'm a four-seasons gal myself. I just might rearrange their lengths if I were in charge. :)

  19. I am enjoying the cool weather now before the heat returns. We don't have winter here. I like one of the quote that says - Appreciation can make a day even change a life. Have a great day!

  21. I always enjoy learning more about you. I knew you loved the winter. I'm not a fan of the cold. I could live on a tropical island year round. I'm a fair weather girl.

I always enjoy your videos. I didn't know about cinnamon and honey. I do now.

Awww one the cat. I linked this post to Awww Mondays. Okay the dog qualified too. So precious.

Have a fabulous day my friend. ♥♥♥

  23. Happy New Year, Linda! When I was about 12 years old, I took a train ride from Detroit (where I grew up) to Montreal with my brother's hockey team and what I remember the most was the beautiful nighttime snowfall during the trip. I love the snow, too.

As usual, the pieces you chose today are wonderful. And I think I might grab an empty jar and start filling it. Your sweet blog will be the first "good thing" note I place inside.

  24. Hi Linda,
firstly I would like you and your loved ones wishes a very nice 2017. That wish may come true in this new year you vewacht it.

That mat that takes away the pain under your feet is a special mat;-)
Cinnamon is also a kind of medicine and I drink it like tea with honey :-) Nice to see this as well in the clip. The dog jumping on the bed of the boy with autism ontroeder me. Beautiful photos of the dog who is so faithful. Dab also a good clip with James Cagney and Bob Hope.

The text spells have again chosen with care for the beginning of this new year.
    Greetings, Helma

It keeps us in check, right?

Enjoy your favourite season and all the very best for 2017!

  42. Hi Linda! Happy New Year and thank you for visiting my blog! I see from your profile that we have osteoarthritis in common! Some days can be more pain than others but we celebrate our good days and rest and be kind to our bodies during flare ups . Great uplifting post!

  44. Love to have the foot reflex mat! Happy 2017, babe! xoxo

  45. Linda, Love the animal stories. That cat was loyal to one of the few people who treated him right...and the Sgt. with the help of an Afgan and the soldier's parents paid it forward. The dog is less surprising as many dogs are sensitive and loyal to a fault. Nevertheless, I'm always impressed by just how loyal they can be!

Cagney and Hope...this bit never gets old! Cagney was a better dancer but Hope was the consummate entertainer who did a lot of good for a lot of people.

Happy New Year! Take Care, Big Daddy Dave

  50. Greetings, my friend, and a very Happy New Year! Thanks for sharing your thoughts and feelings and some of what you experience on a daily basis. I can't share your feelings about winter, though! :) Been there, done that. I like the warm weather. But then I'm older than the sun, so that may be the biggest reason.

Who knew about honey and cinnamon? I think I'll just have to add honey to my cinnamon bread in the mornings! Love the Afghanistan kitty. And I think those posters about giving not getting are right on target even if our society seems to be more about getting than giving.

Take good care and I hope your 2017 is filled with wondrous things - and good health and happiness!

  53. Hello! I have noticed your lion photo for years on other blogger pal's comments. I have to say that sometimes even the sight of that lion makes me teary eyed-it reminds me of Christ and how He is our defender, He is our Lion of the tribe of Judah-isn't it wonderful that He has so many names?
I loved the suggestion of the jar and putting notes of good things that happen to read on the next new year. Thank you for your blog visit!!!

  54. Each to his or her own Linda but I'm afraid I do not like the cold weather. That's good information about cinnamon and honey. I read the same on another blog just the other day - cinnamon and apple - Mmmmm.

  59. Having grown up in Michigan, winter never really bothered me until I went to Florida one February. It was like, 'why am I living in the cold, when I could live somewhere much warmer?!?' I have wonderfully warm winter coats, and scarves and gloves and sweaters, but my perfect time of year is anytime I can run around the house in bare feet. Happy New Year!

  72. What a great post, Linda! There was much here to inspire me. I love the winter too, but freezing rain and ice are definitely no fun. It was certainly fun to spend Christmas in Calgary and, among other activities, to go tobogganing in the snowy cold. The reflexology mat looks like it would feel wonderful.

I want to try the cinnamon and honey. A doctor at the VA in Long Beach suggested decades ago that I put raw honey on my first husband's bedsores. He was a quadriplegic, and his skin kept breaking down from constantly sitting. It was amazing to observe how well the honey healed his open sores. I've heard good things about cinnamon too.

The soldier and his cat, the autistic child and his service dog, the Cagney?Hope tap routine: All were uplifting! And I loved the idea of filling a jar with good things that happen. I've been filling a piggybank with loose change and counting it on Christmas Eve (Well. when I'm home.), but this sounds more rewarding.

I hope that your New Year has started off well! Sending you love and hugs, my special Montreal friend!
