Weekend Splendour

Hello everyone!  A very warm welcome to you all! The videos I have chosen for this post are:

The Best Way to Treat a Mosquito Bite

Baby Donkey Naps in Girl's Lap

Gracie Fields - Isle of Capri (1934)

Incredible Therapy Dog - Koko the Labradoodle

For the following, I am providing the link sources beneath each photo.  You just need to click on the images to see a larger view.

It's so difficult to describe depression to someone who's never been there, because it's not sadness. - J.K. Rowling

I am not what happened to me, I am what I choose to become. - C.G. Jung

Fall seven times, stand up eight. - Japanese Proverb

Take the road less traveled.

A laugh is a smile that bursts.

No matter what happens in life, be good to people. Being good to people is a wonderful legacy to leave behind.

Groves were the first pantheons. - Nancy Rainwater

Our passions are the true phoenixes;  when the old one is burnt out, a new one rises from its ashes. - Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Sometimes it seems like life is definitely an uphill climb.  Try to literally stop to smell the flowers of joy and peace and love along the way. - Nancy Rainwater

Keep your face to the sun and you will never see the shadows. - Helen Keller

A moment of patience in a moment of anger saves you a hundred moments of regret.

Nothing is more important than empathy for another human being's suffering.  Nothing.  Not a career, not wealth, not intelligence, certainly not status.  We have to feel for one another if we're going to survive with dignity. - Audrey Hepburn

Do your best and let go of the rest.  You can't control the outcome;  only your actions.

Sometimes it takes the worst pain to bring about the best change.

Thank you all so much for visiting me here!  I always appreciate and enjoy reading your kind thoughts, which you are always welcome to share!

  2. Ahhhhh!!! Isle of Capri! One of my favourite numbers to dance the cha cha. If I remember correctly, the version by The Blue Diamonds was the hit here:

  5. I keep a tiny device in an electrical socket; it is supposed to keep mosquitos away. Well, I think it does the job. Prevention is the best cure, as they say.

Oh, my looking at the sun is not a good advice - shadows or not shadows.

  12. I struggled to see the first video here as I have a huge problem with insect bites in France, maybe not mosquitoes though. Nothing helped me including antihistamines until I read the blog 'Oui in France' her husband told her to buy Synthol.
    http://ouiinfrance.com/2017/04/14/synthol-miracle-french-pharmacy-product-bug-bites/
I gather there is a same name substance which is lethal to body builders so it is a bit confusing. This is bought in the French pharmacy in liquid form and put on a bite regularly works for me like a miracle.
Love the post as always. Have a fantastic weekend Diane

  22. Linda, I'll pass that Mosquito therapy advice onto my wife. Mosquitos love her and they drive her batty! We love donkeys, big or small. They have so much personality and they're smart too... That baby may still want to nap on her lap when he or she is full grown! Dogs just make most people feel good...love that video that was out today about that dog lying down in front of an outdoor symphony orchestra in Turkey. Take Care, Big Daddy Dave

  28. Hi Linda. I know that therapy dogs are a relatively recent idea. But when I have seen them in action via the TV etc, it is truly remarkable the effect they have on people. A wonderful video.

  31. I love the reminder "do your best - leave the rest" - sometimes I think I might be neglectful in certain situations because of that sentiment. But it's the only way I can be sure of "giving up so-called control" and allowing all people to live their lives the way they would like to. I hate being manipulated, and even more, I hate when I see that I might have been trying to manipulate, too. Thank you, Linda! Your thoughtful posts always help me be my best. xx

  39. Dear Linda,
thanks for finding my blog and leaving this nice comment.
I'm really surprised that somebody from Canada found me.
I travelled to Canada years years ago. To Toronto on a very cold winter day and also to Niagara Falls. Me and my husband had a wonderful time there.

Thanks got that we have no moskitos in Germany! haha
    Regards
    Sigrid

  42. Hi, Linda! The mosquito video reminded me of how glad I am that I live in Colorado where I rarely have to deal with mosquitos. I was mosquito food growing up, and I was always covered with mosquito bites. It was misery! So I'm going to remember that mosquito treatment. I'm going to take antihistamine pills to Nova Scotia in a few weeks. Thanks so much, Linda!!! I'm itchy just at the thought of mosquito bites ~ LOL!
