My News

Hello everyone!  A very warm welcome to you all, and I hope you are all doing well!  If any of you would like to send me a message that only I will read, please use the contact form on the right hand column of my blog.

I got news last night that I will need to vacate the place where I am currently living, and that the property owners plan to sell it.  This means that I will need to find a new apartment as soon as possible. The thing is that my funds are very low, so the apartment will have to be less than $400 per month in order to cover my living expenses.  If any of you live in the Montreal or Laval area or know anyone who does, please keep your eyes out for me.  I would greatly appreciate it.

I am on a waiting list for what is called social housing, which is housing for people with a low income.  I have been on this list for almost 6 years, so you can imagine how big the list is.

I have a cat and am hoping that wherever I move, they will accept one cat.  He is very sweet and four years old.  If not I will have to also find a home for him.  :(

I have to say that I am a positive person and even though I struggle with depression, and this has been somewhat of a shock, as it was unexpected, thus far I am remaining positive.  I would really appreciate your prayers, thoughts, ideas or advice.  As I mentioned above, you can send me a personal message if you wish, that only I will see, via the contact form on the right hand column of my blog.

In the meantime, thank you so much for listening. Love and hugs to you all.  :)

    1. Hi Eileen, thank you so much. Yes, I can check my place on the list and do regularly. There are still 100+ before me on the list.

    2. I don't know how it works there, but I would imagine, that it doesn't necessarily mean that you will have to wait until all the 100+ before you have been housed - perhaps, if some of them are couples or families, it would also depend on the size of housing, which becomes available. So, if something was to become available, which would not be big enough for a family, you might get lucky.. Fingers crossed!

  11. My heart is just breaking for you. I am so sorry you have to rush to do this. Wish I knew of someone (I am in the U.S.)....wherever you look, I would tell them that leaving your cat behind is NOT an option. Sorry......I would hate for you to have to give up your cat. That tears me up.

  17. I am sorry to hear that and I do hope you will be able to find a place to your liking. One thought, I was wondering if the new owners might let you stay on? Or is this something that has already been decided? You most certainly are in my thoughts and prayers, and I am sending as many positive vibes and energies as I can muster.

  18. Talk with one of the housing agencies to see about getting help with finding something- hopefully enough to get you through the waiting list period. I don't know what the rules are like there, but here, if they're evicting for that reason, there are requirements on them to compensate tenants, and to give four months notice.

  19. Hi Linda, I am so sorry to hear you have to move. It is difficult these days across Canada to find rental accomodation, especially at affordable prices. But it helps so much to keep a positive attitude. My only advice is to contact the social housing office again and make sure you are on the list as well as enquire as to where you are at on the list. The other thing is to enquire if there are priority places available for people with certain conditions, eg. mobility issues, mental health issues, senior citizens and so on. The more categories you fill it may help to get a place sooner. Other than that I do not know anyone in Montreal who might be able to help you but I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

  24. Linda, I'm just so sorry that you'll be having to move. I'll pray that the Lord will lead you to just the right place...a place He's already prepared for you...and at just the right price...and that allows your sweet kitty.

  30. Sometimes the storm brings a big beautiul rainbow. Some of my most anxious times were just a way of getting me from where I was to a better place.

You're a kind, loving person, and I'm sure The Universe will smile on you and your kitty. I predict that you'll end up just where you're supposed to be.

Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers and expecting a wonderful outcome.

One thing that works for me - I write down just what I want. You could say, "Pets okay", "two bedrooms", "new paint", "better location", etc.

With all the prayers coming your way, I expect this little bump in the road will smooth out quickly. We will all be eagerly awaiting your news.

    Hugs to you and kitty.

  34. Your landlord can give you notice but cannot evict you. You have right too. It will pssibly require you to seek a shared space in a condo or house to afford the lower rent. My thoughts are with you. I too have had to move 3 times in the past 9 years each time for that same reason.

  35. I'm sorry, that you have change your house.
It' seemes to me that such situation will change and all will finish very well :) Greetings :)

  41. Oh my goodness Linda, I will earnestly pray you find a reasonable apartment that will be a blessing for you. And I agree as one of the other friends of yours wrote, your cat is coming too. I will pray about that too.

You can count on me to pray. I just noticed through other comments on the newer blog that something with your housing was changing.

God bless you dear Friend. Huge hugs and huge prayers coming your way.

  42. I wish you all the best in finding a new place. I cannot believe that you have been on that list for 6 years. But it is difficult to find affordable accommodation over here, too.
    Best wishes

  43. Hope that this all works out fine for you, Linda and that you can keep you furry friend. It mmost be very stressful for you. Is it possible to get some advice or an advocacy/support worker to plead your case to get bumped up the housing list? Also, you can still be far down and get offered somewhere. I would maybe go in and speak to them in person if you can. At least they can put a face to the application form then. Sending positive thoughts to you both. Xx

  46. So sorry to hear, Linda. 6 years is a long wait. I hope something better comes up soon xxoo

  47. So sorry to hear this Linda. One thing, if you find an apartment bloc which says no animals, you can take your cat with you anyway as that is not enforceable by law. Landlords are not supposed to make such a stipulation.

  48. I'm really sorry to read about these rental issues, I'm guessing it would be very expensive living there. I hope the right solution presents itself soon. Don't give up. You ARE a positive person and the right thoughts and attitude can lead to a solution we may not have thought of, if we stay focused on a good outcome. I've had that happen many times and I've been through some very difficult times, through the years. I wish you all the best.🌼💟 Take care.
