There are two ways of exerting one's strength:  one is pushing down, the other is pulling up. - Booker T. Washington

The most violent element in society is ignorance. - Emma Goldman

What would you do if you weren't afraid? - Sheryl Sandberg

Just when the caterpillar thought the world was over, it became a butterfly.

One loyal friend is worth ten thousand relatives.

When you are about to lose (or have lost) a loved one...try to gently welcome the sadness and make space for whatever emotions may arise in you, without judgment...gently make space and be present for your loved one and yourself.  That is the best gift you can give to the both of you.

Love is eternal...it never ends, it transforms.

Crying is okay, it is just old negative energy that was stuck in you for too long and that wants to come out. Release it, let it go.

Overthinking will destroy your mood.  Breathe and let it go.

Temporary people give permanent lessons.

Count your nights by stars, not shadows;  count your life with smiles, not tears. - Italian Proverb

Start helping those around you.  Care about people. Guide them if you know a better way.  The more you help others, the more they will want to help you. Love and kindness begets love and kindness.  And so on and so forth.

Reminder:  overthinking never leads to anything good.

The unhappiest people in this world are those who care the most about what other people think. - C. JoyBell C.

  20. The Pangolin is amazing. Never even heard of this critter before.

Wow on that burger. I'm going to try this. Sounds like a great way to have a juicy burger.

Sandy Hook. Love is always better than hate. There is so much hate now. Politicians are really a huge part of that hate and division.

Have a fabulous day and weekend. Big hug. ♥♥♥

  23. What an interesting creature the pangolin is. It looks like a cross between an anteater and an armadillo.

  24. The message of Jesse Lewis is especially timely today. Our world has become so scary. I can't image being in the shoes of any mother who has lost a child under those circumstances (or under any other circumstance).
Enjoyed the other videos and quotes, as usual, and now I can tackle the weekend after my Friday dose of Linda's Peaceful Place.
Thanks, Linda! Have a wonderful, safe weekend!!

  34. Thank you for the wonderful post, dearest Linda!
I had never heard the Italian proverb, but I found it easily: "Conta le stelle delle tue notti, non le ombre. Conta i sorrisi della tua vita, non le lacrime."
There's also "count the flowers in your garden, not the falling leaves"... but the falling leaves are pretty as well. :)
The thoughts about overthinking will be passed to someone important very soon.
    Have a blessed weekend! xx

  37. The proverb about friends versus relatives reminds me of Proverbs 27:10, "Your own friend, and your father's friend, forsake not; neither go into your brother's house in the day of your calamity: for better is a neighbor that is near than a brother far off."

    Have a lovely day!

  38. Hi, Linda! Love today's tidbits and words of wisdom. My favorite today is that the most hostile element is ignorance - so true - and I think even of myself, when making certain "snap judgments" that I must stop myself from thinking such-and-such because I don't know all the facts that contributed to that happening. I feel that Ignorance is Hostility in a number of ways - but mostly, because people feel that it is a valid excuse. And when people can not bring themselves to apologize with heartfelt sincerity because their ignorance caused a waterfall of issues in another person's life, I cannot think of a more hostile situation. It is its own form of "terrorism". Sorry - I didn't mean to go on and on -- and I must admit that I've been guilty, too. Still, I wish people would give others the benefit of the doubt, because we all simply DO NOT KNOW. LOL

Wishing you a great weekend! hugs, de

  48. Hello Linda, I was most fascinated with the Pangolin ... what an incredible (looking) creature.
I would never have thought of using an ice cube to retain moisture in burgers, but it makes sense!
I love the video of the Sandy Hook Mom's memorial to her dear Son Jesse.
Beautiful quotations too... many thanks Linda, lovely to catch up with you. Cheers and good wishes for a great week ahead :D) xx

  49. Hello Linda,
Nice movies. That first about that animal is really interesting.

    Hugs, Marco

  50. Now then Linda ypu've chosen a wonderful animal to feature. The Pangolin is just fabulous and one I'd love to see in the wild. Geuss I'll have to settle for zoos?

Burgers - am I unusual as I never touch them?

    ReplyDelete
  51. Linda, Love pangolins...and platypus too! Weird yet cool! Haven't had to try the ice cube burger trick yet...probably because we go for medium rare burgers, something that seems to be illegal in Canada. (We never order burgers in Canada!) That Sandy Hook mom is a better person than I am. I would never be forgiving and, to the detriment of my own health, I'd probably stay angry! I am in sync with the statement that "Overthinking never leads to anything good." Take Care, Big Daddy Dave

  57. The pangolin is one weirdly wonderful animal, and it is well adapted to its environment. I think that the easiest way to spread love and kindness is to be generous with smiles. Big hugs to you my dear Montreal friend!
