Growing up in the 1960's

I grew up in the 1960's, and any of you who grew up in the 50's, 60's or 70's will know that times have drastically changed since then.  I remember transistor radios and had one similar to this...
My father would bring me home comic books from time to time.  My favourites were the Harvey collection.  Back then they were a mere 12 cents each.  Here is a photo of a Harvey comic.
I loved to read them...Little Dot, Little Audrey, Richie Rich, Lotta....those were the days.

My mother did the laundry back then in a wringer washer which looked something like this...
In later years she had a washer like this one...

Those were the days!  Thank you all so much for visiting me here and please feel free to comment with your fond memories.

  1. I got my first radio for my eighth grade graduation. It could run on batteries or plug in to the wall. I remember taking it to the beach and feeling so cool as I laid on my beach towel listening to my radio. I loved comic books too. I loved all of those you listed plus the Archie comic books and Superman. We had an old wringer washer and I remember my mom letting me very carefully feed the clothes through the wringer. She was delighted when she got a new washer and really delighted when she got her first dryer. I was too. I wasn't overly fond of hanging clothes on the line, especially in the winter!
