Classic TV Gameshows

I remember the days when gameshows were quite popular and it was not uncommon to see a lineup of them on afternoons and prime time evenings.  There was Password, Let's Make a Deal, Match Game, The Dating Game, The Newlywed Game and many others!  
Back in those days, if you were a contestant on a gameshow you would receive a free copy of a board game of the show.


I have always loved Betty White.  She is a fellow animal lover and a well known and loved actress and game show celebrity.  Her husband, Allen Ludden, was the host of Password...he died in 1981.

    my grandma loved all these shows n more.. the price is right was our favorite..and we would take a big legal pad and i would write down all the prizes we won against each other..we would play till the end and see which one of us were better at pricing! sooo fun.. i also loved to play scrabble with her & Yahtzee were her favorites!

    I love all of those classic game shows too. I especially loved Let's Make a Deal and The Price is Right. I remember watching them in the summertime. Great memories!

    I don't remember watching any game shows where I grew up in the UK but when I came to America I started watching Wheel of Fortune, usually when we visited my in-law's as they were big fans. I still catch a show when my father-in-law visits and enjoy it tremendously. Now when my son was a lot younger, from around 12 to 15, he loved to watch The Price is Right. I'm not sure if he remembers that now but it was fun while it lasted, the two of us enjoying the show and trying to guess those prices.

    The ones where contestants try to win money or goods don't appeal.

    You are just chock full of nostalgia. I've always enjoyed Betty White...especially her work on the Mary Tyler Moore show which we watched faithfully for years.

    But I never got "into" game shows. I would watch one occasionally if there was nothing else on that interested me. I really dislike the current reality shows!
