Enjoying Walks and Taking Photos

I hope you all get off to a good start for this week.  For today's post I thought I would share a couple of my winter photos.  Last year I went to a park here in Montreal and part of the river was frozen over.  I honestly didn't expect to see any ducks...however, did I ever see ducks.  Many of them, too!  Needless to say I was quite pleased and enjoyed their company and took a photo of them.

The first photo is to show how the river was frozen over...at least in part, anyway.

This next photo...the colourful building is the Palais des Congres in downtown Montreal.

This last photo is a restaurant...I had to take the photo to show the interesting graffiti art on the side wall of the restaurant.

Thank you all so much for stopping by...and I hope you enjoyed the photos.  Please feel free to share your thoughts by clicking on the "comments" link at the end of my post.

  1. Hard to have mild winters. So far so good.
We will continue snowy winter and at night is below zero.
Migratory bird begins to appear - Spring it comes to us as well.
    Nice and interesting pictures.

  2. You find THE MOST interesting and pretty things to photograph, you are a girl after my own heart!!! I love the ducks in the snow, something we rarely see. And the colorful painting on the building. But this glass building, WOW!!!! Did they make it to look like this? How would they do it?

  3. Brrr...I don't much like cold weather. I can't figure out why the ducks would still be up there when it was nice and warm down here. I did see a huge flock of Canadian Geese in our skies heading north yesterday when out on the golf course.

That Palais des Congres is stunning - in a psychedelic sense! I wonder how that came to be constructed. Usually bureaucrats like to work in some dark, wonky concrete building! ;-) This is almost surreal. But it sure does brighten up the neighborhood.

I generally hate all graffiti but when this kind of artistic mural is commissioned by a building's owner, I say more power to all involved. I'll be this is a seafood restaurant! A light and fun mural!

Thanks for your thoughtful comments today and for visiting our blogs. I know we have too many, but we take a lot of photos and it's fun to have places to display them.

    Have a wonderful week ahead!

    1. Hi Lowell,

I am fortunate to love the cold weather...but just not frigid temperatures such as below minus 15. :) It seems that the ducks here don't mind it, either. I guess part of the reason is because some people here feed them. They are not supposed to, but they do anyway. They love them so much I guess they can't help themselves. :)

    2. As far as the restaurant goes...I almost forgot. Yes, they do serve seafood, but I don't recall if it is a "seafood" restaurant, per se.

  6. Hi all, thank you all for your kind responses! As far as the Palais des Congres goes, I honestly am not sure about the construction of it. Perhaps I will find out more and share this on a future post. The windows kind of remind me of stained glass...and I love stained glass! :)

  7. They are great photos. You certainly are still frozen down on the river. I like the multicolors of glass on the side of the building.

  8. Such a pretty river..........I bet it is really pretty in the spring. Do the ducks stay there all year?

  9. Oops...I guess it helps to mention when I took these photos. :) I took them around January, I think. At that time much was frozen here. Some of the ducks stay here all year. Not sure about the geese, though...I haven't seen any geese here during the winter months; not have I seen the wood ducks, either. In fact, if I do see any wood ducks, they are usually the last ones to arrive here in the Spring and the first ones to fly south.

  10. even in winter that river is sooo beautiful..u captured it perfectly! love that building too w/all the colored glass! i agree w/ur friend about Murals commissioned by the owner of building only i like..we have so much graffiti here and it is not art! its a nuisance and costs so much money to clean up. I wish we could hire artists to repaint over them all! :))
