I'll tell you what, you've got to watch some gooses every minute! Night and day, in fact. (Love that song!)
ReplyDeleteSeriously, these critters can hurt you. Years ago, at a fishing camp in north Texas, there were some geese who would come after me and bite very hard -- and when I ran they kept running after me. Nasty buggers!
We have geese hanging out near our house lately. Thankfully, they've been pretty friendly.
ReplyDeleteI love Fred Astaire and Night and Day! I di dn't know that geese were dangerous, we used to keep a couple in the garden when we lived in Bangladesh, my daughter used to play with them even...if I had known! Now we're in Sicily so we don't have that problem, we just have a tiny chihuahua ... but he's dangerous...he'll bite when he's angry:)
ReplyDeleteMy goodness, I am glad you're OK! Sounds like you handled the situation very calmly and well. Maybe the gander was having a bad day. :-)
ReplyDeleteHe's probably just doing his "ganderly" duty!
ReplyDeleteGeese do that. I once was hit from head to toe by wings because I couldn't back away fast enough. I have given them a wide, wide berth since.
ReplyDeleteGeese can be pretty ornery on occasion can't they? We've plenty of them around here...I'm surprised I've not had any run ins with them...boy am I glad!
ReplyDeleteOh wow, what a great action shot of that goose! Those crazy geese. You gotta watch out for them! ha ha ha!
ReplyDeleteThat's one ornery gander, just protecting his mate I guess... good job you had your jeans on!
ReplyDeleteThey do that, Linda ! I'm glad you're not hurt ! They don't know you're such a nice lady !
ReplyDeleteLie(f)s.
kjempe stilig :-)
ReplyDeletehilsen dirk
Oh MY!!! I am so glad you were not hurt! You must now wear jeans whenever you go there. This male must be very jealous and protective! And it didn't shake you up, you still got good pictures, BRAVO!!
ReplyDeleteOuch! I've heard their bite really hurts :(
ReplyDeleteWe used to have these geese at the retreat house that did the same thing. They loved to chase you. It was kind of scary, but funny at the same time. Needless to say, we gave them a wide berth.
ReplyDeleteGeese will do that. They can be pretty aggressive.
ReplyDeleteWhen my wife was a kid, they had a gander that would hide and attack my wife when he thought she least expected it. What he never figured out was that she ALWAYS expected it and went armed. She said she beat that gander half to death numerous times with brooms, metal wash pans, mops, laundry baskets and so on and he never DID learn his lesson!
ReplyDeleteBless your heart~ those things can be scary!!! I made the mistake of trying to feed some at a park once... *YIKES*!!! I had nightmares for weeks! :)
ReplyDeleteGood thing you had on jeans....bossy fellas. Good photo's of him :)
ReplyDeleteoh my, that's a very aggressive goose! am glad you weren't hurt in any way. i'm not sure how i would have reacted ... i might have tried to flee! :D it's got very beautiful feathers, i have to say, looks very healthy :D
ReplyDeleteI guess that's a new definition of getting 'goosed' ! Great shots - especially the 2nd.
ReplyDeleteLOL! But they can bite! Be careful out there!
ReplyDeleteThank you all so much for your comments! I have learned my lesson. Any birds will get a much wider berth from me in the future. :)
ReplyDeleteOUCH poor you grumpy old Gander ! Great Shots, take care .
