Sunday Solace and a Sincere and Heartfelt Thank you!

Hello everyone!  A very warm welcome to you all!

I had asked for your prayers and thoughts on my behalf yesterday because I was pretty sick last night. After having a chance to get some much needed rest and a good night's sleep, I awoke this morning feeling refreshed and much better.  So I thought over everything that I had done and eaten yesterday, and how I did it, to see if I could find out why I was sick like that.  I very rarely vomit and hadn't vomited for years so this was a shock to me.  Anyway, I discovered what happened, at least I am pretty sure. It was a very silly mistake that I plan to not repeat, so I have learned a valuable lesson.  I am very meticulous about things, and this includes any medications that I take, making certain that I read any labels and warnings on them.  I am on a few medications and I have been on all of them for more than a year, so after having established that I hadn't eaten any bad food, and I know that I keep everything clean and disinfect my kitchen, I realized what I had done.  See, I hadn't slept much the night before, and I was very tired, so I took my meds yesterday morning, with a glass of water (or two), as I always do, however, what was different this time was I didn't take them with any food!  Big mistake! In fact, I was so worn yesterday that I ate nothing until supper time (around 5:30 p.m.), at the time I usually eat my supper.  It was just one to two hours after eating supper that I noticed my stomach was not good, and then I realized what was about to happen.  And it did.  So basically, I took my meds in the morning with no food, had my dinner, at 5:30 p.m., which was the only food I had eaten all day, and my stomach was telling me, "No, no!"  The meds I had taken that morning were still in my stomach, two of which have "Eat with breakfast" on the labels, and now the food I ate was sitting on top of an empty stomach with the meds underneath.  My stomach reacted and tried to clear out the mess, which it did successfully.  Had I not been so tired I would have eaten something.  Anyway, I learned my lesson.  Do not take medications on an empty stomach!!!  Thank you all so much for your prayers and thoughts on my behalf.  Love and hugs to you all! :)

For the following, I am providing the link sources beneath each photo.

  1. Good morning, dear Linda! Your new post didn't show up in my feed yet but I know your publishing habit and came to see you once again. As we already discussed, you need to protect the lining of your stomach from irritation. Queasiness can sneak up on you as the day progresses. I have been in that situation many times. I am very happy to know you are rested and feeling better. I was touched by the report on Spartacus, the gentle giant therapy dog. The unspeakable tragedy of Sandy Hook is still fresh in my mind and ranks up there with the 9-11 terror attacks, the Oklahoma City bombings of 1995, assassinations and other horrible events in our nation's history. One of my earliest childhood memories was hearing "The Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy" used as the opening theme music of a children's show I used to watch. It was so long ago, the very early 50s, that I can't even remember its name. I don't know of many people who would want a tarantula for a pet. I'd much rather cuddle with a dog! :) It amazes me that the female can live up to a quarter century and that full size spiders can be raised from tiny hatchlings.

Thank you very much, dear friend Linda!

    Bonjour Linda

J'espère que tu vas mieux maintenant.
Prendre des médicaments le ventre vide peut effectivement donner des maux. Ma pauvre Linda :-(

Oh geez Linda so sorry to hear you weren't well... At least you found the cause. Some meds can be too harsh and definitely need some food for company to protect the stomach. Glad to know you're feeling better now! Have a great week :-)

  17. I'm sorry you were sick, but glad you are feeling better now. And good thing you found out what was the cause.. I did make the same mistake before. I took med without food despite the instruction to "take with food" and got quite sick! Yep I learned the lesson, too :-)

  19. Dear Linda - sorry to read how sick you were. So glad you found out what was wrong. Medications certainly can be tricky when we don't take them on a full tummy. Loved being here today - everything was wonderful as always friend. Hugs!

  22. Glad to hear you figured out what happened. I've got to watch my "meds" too and it's really easy to goof up 'cause I'm often on "automatic" and not paying attention. Got to focus on the Now and be in the Present.

Love that therapy dog. Too big for a house pet but I'll be it brings great joy to a lot of people!

  23. Do Tarantulas Make Good Pets? Not on your life. Spiders are one of the things scar eme out of my wits. Now the Sugar Plum Fairy by Tchaikovsky - Glass Harp was interesting and very enjoyable. Thanks Linda but not the Tarantulas.
Have a enjoyable Sunday my friend and I'm glad that you are feeling better.See ya.

  24. Glad you are feeling better and figured out what happened. In college, I was prescribed some antibiotics. I thought the dr said to take on an empty stomach, but the opposite was true. I was sick as a dog all weekend until I figured it out. Now I never take meds on an empty stomach - ever!

  42. Hello, Sweet Linda - so glad you are feeling improved. Some of us have very sensitive bodies that react to meds, foods, chemicals (etc) that others have no issues with. Please take care of yourself, and know how much your blog deeply touches the lives of so many others! Thank you, Linda! xoxoxox

"Your cellphone" quote really got to me because it seems that everyone is either on their phone or ipad these days. I hope you continue to get better, and have a terrific week ahead.

  45. Glad you found out what was wrong and are feeling better today, Linda! The "Live your life to be happy. Never mind what others say. Because you're going to be judged any which way" quote is good. We can never please everyone, so it doesn't really make sense to try. God is my judge, not man.

  56. I'm glad you are on the mend, Linda! I'm sad to learn that you were feeling badly. Medications can help us so much, but they can also have a miserable effect, especially if we don't follow the directions.

Ironically I have been down with my medical nemesis too. It hit me late Monday, and I've been flat most of the time since. I tried to stay on top of things, like my blogging, but that fell apart. My wonderful friend Cheri who recently moved to Phoenix came to visit me over the weekend, and spending hours and hours talking with her and laughing (That's all we could do.) did me a world of good.

Please feel stronger and better with each hour. The only comment I will make on your last couple of posts is that I really enjoyed the Princess Diana video. I thought a great deal of her, and I was deeply saddened by her senseless death and all that she missed by dying so young.

Take care, my dear friend, and know I hadn't visited because I, too, was under the weather. Here's to a much better week for b both of us!
