Mid-Week Selection

Hello everyone!  A very warm welcome to you all! The videos I have selected for this post are:

New Gadgets are Housewives' Choice (1959)

Picnics - Past and Future (1944)

Wombat Fortress - Kangaroo Dundee

Emus in the House - Kangaroo Dundee

For the following, I am providing the link sources beneath each photo.  You just need to click on the images to see a larger view.

It is easy to hate and it is difficult to love.  This is how the whole scheme of things works.  All good things are difficult to achieve, and bad things are very easy to get. - Confucius

Happier days are coming.

Never believe you are above or below anyone.  Keep a humble spirit.

Another day is a blessing.  Don't take it for granted.

When you tell the truth it becomes a part of your past.  But if you lie, it becomes a part of your future.

It's a very rare, enlightening, and fortunate phenomenon to find someone who makes you feel like your insanity is completely logical.

Never give up!  You never know what is just around the corner.

Do the right thing, even when no one is looking.  It's called integrity.

Don't worry about what people think.  They don't do it very often. :)

Don't ever save anything for a special occasion. Being alive IS the special occasion.

Kindness.  One of the greatest gifts you can bestow upon another.  If someone is in need, lend them a helping hand.  Do not wait for a thank you.  True kindness lies within the act of giving without the expectation of something in return.

Reflect on the positives in your world today.

It's time to recognize the trapped emotions, fears, anxieties and unprocessed life experiences we hold in our bodies.  They are the source of everything that ails us.

It is often in the most desperate times that creativity can thrive, and motivate communities to come together to create a better future.

Thank you all so much for visiting me here!  I always appreciate and enjoy reading your kind thoughts, which you are always welcome to share!

  2. "Never give up! You never know what is just around the corner." I've said this at least a thousand times throughout my life. I can't help wandering what wonderful thing is just around the corner! I'll take one of this mini-wringers to hang on the wall above a laundry sink! that would be useful today. Have a lovely rest of the week, my cherished friend! Sending you love and hugs!

  27. Yikes on the gadgets. I especially liked that blow up coat hanger. I see that didn't catch on.

The picnics were fun. I'm not much for dehydrated food, but it's easy to tote around.

I love Wombats. What a happy ending.

Have a fabulous day, Linda. Big hug. ♥♥♥

  28. Those gadgets! Did you ever see the I Love Lucy episode where she buys a gadget that peels and cuts potatoes? Of course, it doesn't work. And all these years later nothing much has changed. I bought a Slap Chop a few years ago. It is now on some shelf of a thrift store.

  31. Weren't those old advertisements cute? And some of the things even survived through the years and are modern now as they were at that time. Thanks for the fun and inspiration, Linda, it's always so refreshing to come and read your posts.

  32. Hi Linda. Love the chunky Wombat. Isn't it nice to see someone settling in their new home so quickly. No neighbours to worry about either.

  35. Wish I could watch the first two videos the look like fun.
When you tell the truth it becomes a part of your past. But if you lie, it becomes a part of your future. Oh so true, and people that lie usually forget and end up telling bigger lies to get out of the first one.
Have a great day Linda. Diane

  36. Thanks for your very nice comments, Linda! And I love the videos. I'm thinking that some of those "new" inventions didn't last very long and other things took their place. I rather liked the old picnics, too. In some ways I would be happier back in 1959, I think. But maybe not; health care was not so good and the cars weren't as good, etc., but I think things were simpler then. Except for the Cold War! :(

  37. Linda, Love the kitchen gadgets. Never saw a wall mounted fridge. What happened to those automatic potato peelers? I've seen them in antique shops but apparently they didn't catch on. The blow up coat hanger is just plain weird! I'll have to search eBay for one of those portable wringers. Great gag gift for my wife! I'll stick with the old time picnic with the real food... Love wombats. Saw some up close and personal in Australia many years ago. I'd like to see what our cat would do if an Emu was in our house! Take Care, Big Daddy Dave

  44. It's pretty hard to want to delve deeply into those "trapped" issues of our lives, isn't it? It's a great journey though, when we choose to make it. It's nice having a friend to take it with us on occasion, a sounding board, and someone to help us a bit - but nothing can be done without a willingness to truly see and question what we THOUGHT at one time was reality. Thanks for the reminder!

The fun video about housekeeping innovations was great! I wish I could be here in 50 years to see how differently everyone will be living. It would be fascinating!

    hugs,
    de
