ReplyDeleteWhat a super post! Not sure I care to play with whales - they are soooo big and I'm soooo small! I've seen those baby "carriages" sticking out of windows many stories high and they scare me to death. Nice to see that there are people trying to help the homeless. So many homeless are in that condition through no fault of their own. Love Raphael's paintings, as you know, especially the next to last one...that is priceless! Oh, I also remember rationing during WWII. We really never suffered but I know I couldn't buy certain things - like bubble gum. :) Have a super weekend!

Linda, Interesting selection of videos... The closest we've been to whales was in the Bay of Fundy off of Nova Scotia, but although they were alongside the boat, we couldn't quite touch them. That baby cage is a bit scary but I guess that if its built right, it's like a kid's deck instead of a standard deck for an apartment. Although I lived through WWII and rationing, I was too young to remember it but I do have a ration book among my collectables. I was surprised at how well that hose vs. hornet's nest worked but the use of a badminton racket vs. carpenter bees is very popular around here. Take Care, Big Daddy Dave

Wouldn't like to try that hose trick with UK wasps as even with three left they would make straight for the person holding it in high attack mode if you destroyed the nest and left any alive. We have a big problem here as well with homeless folk in all the cities and an uncaring right wing government cutting services and closing shelters at every oppertunity.
ReplyDeleteI sat on the edge of my chair while the garden hose attacked the wasp nest. Amazing they didn't come after him! We've been spraying yellow jacket nests here at our house with a can of smelly hot shot. Do we dare try this??????

Thank you for these great choices again Linda. The experience with the whales must have been amazing. The baby cage, yikes! The wasps nest, well I wouldn't want them to take up residence on my house but can't help but think what clever engineers they are. I remember my mom, and dad sometimes, telling me about the wartime rationing. I think it lasted a few years after WWII. Mike is a very special guy with a big heart. Always love your wise words, and your Canadian falling in the forest was so cute. Thanks again and have a great weekend :)

About rationing, the food may have been boring, but it's been shown that the British people were at their healthiest during the rationing years.

Although I was a little worried about the baby in that cage and that disintegrating hornets' nest. I'll bet the Canadian does apologize to the ground and the plants ~ LOL. "Keep going! Hi Linda! That baby cage is so scary!!! It reminds me of the observations towers on the top of the tall buildings in Chicago. Erg...no thanks. But I guess it serves a need, and gets the kids out, right?
