Susan Brabeau's, without further research, must be about the '30's, judging by the mother's shoes and dress. Washing the winter's quilts. Two quilt patterns are identifable; I like that.

It looks like you're a big fan of nostagia. I love Persis Weir's calendar art and have several of his calendars.

ReplyDeleteI like your 'washday' picture finds a lot, Linda. Have participated in both scene activities myself, you may have also. The cats seem to play whether it's play time or work time. Aw, the life of a cat.

ReplyDeleteIt looks like an old ACME wringer on that wash tub- I remember those as being an updated version of the old mangle in the garden of the flat where we lived when I was little - a huge, wrought iron monstrosity with enormous wooden rollers waiting to trap inquisitive fingers!

DeleteThanks for sharing that. I wasn't sure the make of the washer but my mother did have a wringer washer when I was a little girl and my arm did get caught in it once. Fortunately my mother was able to release the spring and remove my arm safely. :)
