Birthdays...Then and Now
I have noticed that birthdays have changed tremendously over the years...well, for myself they have. LOL! I won't speak for anyone else. As a child I was always excited and looked forward to my birthday. Nowadays I just think "so I am a year older now." LOL! :) It's ironic that I was born in the Autumn...because I just love the Autumn! I love the smell of the fresh air, the leaves changing colour, the cooler temperatures.
How, in your view, have birthdays evolved over the years? (if at all?) Perhaps, in my case, it isn't the birthdays themselves that have changed over the years, but my reaction to them. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy my birthday, but it isn't the same now as it was when I was a child. Perhaps that is why I love to reminisce about days gone by so much...or one of the reasons, anyway. :)
Thank you all so much for visiting me here! I really appreciate and enjoy reading your thoughts, which you can always share by clicking on the 'comments' link at the end of my post.

I think:
ReplyDeleteThe fault, dear Brutus, lies in us, and not our institutions. (Or something like that!)
*H*a*p*p*y* *b*i*r*t*h*d*a*y*, Linda ! Wish you much more happy, healthy years !
ReplyDeleteLie(f)s.
What amazes me is that I am now the age of my grandparents when I first knew them!
ReplyDeleteHello Linda,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comments on my painting blog. I am pleased that it allowed me to find your blog.
Happy Birthday! Yes, they do change over the years, not something to look forward to with excitement and anticipation any more. But enjoy it anyway!
I once visited Montreal for a week and really enjoyed it, so I will be checking back with you quite often. My mouth still waters when I think about Montreal bagels!
Really enjoyed your magazine covers...
Happy Birthday, Linda. May the Lord bless you.
ReplyDeleteI'm a little late but HAPPY BIRTHDAY just the same. And thank you for visiting my blog. I have just gone back a few months on yours and really enjoyed it. I like old ads and vintage photos, and the scenery pictures are really beautiful. I think we have a lot of the same interests. I was 13 when you were born. I love cats, flowers, old music, Victorian stuff, researching family, something I have wanted to do and just have never started. I will put you on my favorites list, I do not post as ofter as I used to, I try to do it at least twice a month.Be blessed.
ReplyDeleteHi Linda ~~ Nice to meet you and I wish you a very Happy Birthday. They are always nice with something good taking place. Mostly I hear that adults go out for a meal on their birthdays.
ReplyDeleteAs a child, it took forever to get around but that is not the case now. I think because we were not well off, any gift was treasured.
Now little kids would rather play with the wrapping paper or any boxes and they get so much and expect it too. Oh for the good old days !!!!
Best of luck with your blogging Linda
I still enjoy it after about 8 years but only post on Sundays these days. I have a son older than you 58, a son
54, a daughter 52 and another 51. The younger three are adopted, and are just great kids, all of them and their families. I am 78 and so very fortunate to have such a good loving family. Sorry to go on so much.
Again, nice to meetyou. Love, Merle.
Hi Merle, I don't mind you going on so much, I enjoyed listening to what you have to say. Thanks so much for your comment. It is wonderful meeting you as well.
DeleteMany more happy returns of the Day :) The birthday lacks important as we grow up... and attitudes change and we understand by just celebrating birthday nothing changes and it’s all that mind matter.
ReplyDeleteWho won’t like celebrating their birthday, let whatever mere the way. Have a great time :)
Happy birthday
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday, Linda...and thank you for all the pleasure you give with your blog.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, Linda! Have a nice day.
ReplyDeleteBeing a few years older than you, I'd like to forget birthdays entirely! It's not fun nor is it easy getting old and the older you get the less fun it is! But, as they say, it beats the alternative!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice birthday today, and you'll have many more.
ReplyDeleteThe older you get, the closer they come lol.
ReplyDeleteHappy Day Linda, all the best for the future.
Thank you all so much for your comments and birthday wishes. I really appreciate it! :)
