Another Sunny Day in the Neighbourhood!

It is really amazing.  It has been a beautiful week of mild and sunny temperatures here in Montreal.  I enjoyed a lovely walk today and this time, unlike yesterday, I had recharged my batteries for my camera and so...I took my camera with me.

These first two photos are of the Christmas display window of a store that sells...Christmas trees! (and some accessories)

This is another donation box in Montreal.  I posted one of the Goodwill organization on a past post...this one is for a diabetic organization.  "dons de vetements" is a French term for "donations of clothing".

Since I have heard from many people that public phone booths are almost becoming a thing of a past, I have been taking photos of the ones around Montreal...there are still many.  (including full sized ones).

This is one of our local free newspaper receptacles.  The name of this newspaper is "24 Heures", or "24 Hours".  It is an all French newspaper.  There are a few free newspapers in Montreal, in fact, several, and this is one of them.  You can also find canvassers handing them out at metro stations here and on streets.  Do any of you have these items in your area?  I am not meaning these specific ones, but for any free newspapers in your area?

This is an emergency defibrillator. They can be found at certain areas in Montreal, and can be a help to emergency personnel on ambulances as well.  This one was in a bus terminal station.

And last but not least for today's post.  I found a tree full of happy, chirping birds and couldn't resist photographing them.  You can see how beautiful and blue the sky was today, and has been for a week now.

The video/song I chose for today's post is a relaxing one played on harp.  I hope you have all enjoyed the video and my photos from today's walk.

Thank you all so much for visiting me here!  I always appreciate and enjoy reading your comments.  Much love and hugs to you all!

  1. Its good to hear that you are having blue skies and pleasant weather. It is interesting seeing the street artefacts. The phone boxes will be a classic in the future. We have clothing bins and free papers I haven't seen many defibrillators only on trains.

  2. They did away with our clothing bins because people were sleeping in them, scaring folks (unintentionally). Phone booths are gone and our free paper went under. Woe is us! :-)

  3. It seems like such a beautiful and vibrant city. We have fond memories of Montreal as we attended Expo the summer we got married. Oh so many decades ago....:)

  4. Well, yes, I did enjoy this post. It is interesting to me how so many things are very similar in our two countries. The Christmas tree shop - we got those; we have red donation boxes that look much like this one. It's very hard to find a pay phone anymore but I think there is one downtown. The yellow newspaper freebie boxes look the same, but I've not seen defibrillators in public places. The tree - well, our trees here are still full of leaves. Some deciduous ones have started to drop some leaves, but most stay leafy all year.

Thanks for all you comments and I hope you enjoy this 2nd day of the week!

  5. The first thing I read, Linda 'I had recharged my batteries'! Didn't read 'for my camera'...
Donationboxes for 'Goodwill', we have too. Phones..., less and less... Free newspapers, 3 times a week at the station, and on Sundays at the baker. They started with defibrillators.
Wish you all the best !

  6. The photos of the Christmas shop show some unique decorations. I don't decorate for Christmas as much as I used to. I don't put up a tree and just have a little monofilament tree instead. It doesn't feel very Christmasy yet anyway.

  9. Thanks for taking us along with you on your walk. It has been quite a while since I've seen a public pay phone. We have a couple of free newspapers in our area, and since we live in a rural area, they are delivered to our home.
