Route 66 & a Few Church Photos

Hello everyone!  A warm welcome to you all!  Thanks so much for stopping by!  I have never seen Route 66 except in photos and videos, but there is something about it that I find intriguing.  Perhaps it is the history behind it...many warm and friendly diners and other places were found there.  Since I really miss the old fashioned, warm and friendly atmosphere of stores and restaurants of days gone by, I think this is what fascinates me about Route 66.
I found this video on YouTube and just had to share it!
It is a short three minute video that I hope you will all enjoy!

The photos I am sharing today are ones I took on a walk a couple of weeks ago.  You just need to click on the images to see a larger view.

Thank you all so much for visiting me here!  I always appreciate and enjoy reading your kind thoughts, which you are always welcome to share by clicking on the 'comments' link at the end of my post.

  4. This church almost looks a bit like a fortress, do you know what it is? My guess would be Presbyterian. But WAIT, is it even a church at all??

  6. 'route 66' makes me think of that nat king cole song. my favorite version of the song is by nat's daughter, natalie :D and that's a very interesting building in your photo. looks like a lot of craftsmanship went into making it.

  10. I used to watch the series Route 66 in the early 60's Linda. Loved it as I did 77 Sunset Strip which also aired.

That's grand bold architecture on the church. Nice pictures.

  11. I love the diners and cafe's of years gone by too. I miss soda fountains in drug stores and comic books in magazine stands. All those things you would find on Route 66! Great post, I really enjoyed visiting!

  15. I would have loved to travel Route 66 in it's heyday. Loved the old TV show. I think it was part of the reason my high school girlfriend and I talked about driving cross country when we graduated. Sadly, we never did that.
I have a blog friend who traveled it a few months ago. She got some great shots.

  17. Impressive church...it is huge. You do not think Americana with out adding route 66 to it. I think it would be fun to travel it just to say i did it. The lady in the video sounds so content and happy with her life .

  18. I love the majesty of the old buildings! They are beautiful and solid. Modern is good but there is something comforting about the older architecture.
Route 66 - - I think a couple of bloggers have stopped at some places there. It would be fun to see some of it.
