Relaxing Scottish Music and Downtown Montreal

Hello everyone!  A very warm welcome to you all!  The video I have chosen for this post is a short 3 minute clip entitled "The Skye Boat Song."  It is lovely and relaxing Scottish music.  Enjoy!

The photos I am sharing today are ones that I took on a walk recently in downtown Montreal.  No, I do not know the children in the second photo, but I enjoyed the fact that they were just as fascinated as the adults by this sculpture.  You just need to click on the images to see a larger view.

Thank you all so much for visiting me here!  I always appreciate and enjoy reading your kind thoughts, which you are always welcome to share by clicking on the 'comments' link at the end of my post.

  4. Bonjour,

  9. Most Scottish children learn the Skye Boat Song at an early age.
    It's a story about Bonnie Prince Charlie and Flora McDonald.

    Chorus: Speed, bonnie boat, like a bird on the wing,
    Onward! the sailors cry;
    Carry the lad that's born to be King
    Over the sea to Skye.
    Loud the winds howl, loud the waves roar,
    Thunderclouds rend the air;
    Baffled, our foes stand by the shore,
    Follow they will not dare.
    Chorus
    Though the waves leap, soft shall ye sleep,
    Ocean's a royal bed.
    Rocked in the deep, Flora will keep
    Watch by your weary head.
    Chorus
    Many's the lad fought on that day,
    Well the Claymore could wield,
    When the night came, silently lay
    Dead in Culloden's field.
    Chorus
    Burned are their homes, exile and death
    Scatter the loyal men;
    Yet ere the sword cool in the sheath
    Charlie will come again.

  14. Bonitas fotografías, especialmente la primera de ellas, con los reflejos de la gran ciudad sobre la fachada del BNP, y la segunda con ese singular grupo escultórico. Un Abrazo,
