Enjoying My Camera & Walks

Hello everyone!  A very warm welcome to you all!  The video I have chosen for this post is a short 2 minute one of hummingbirds in flight.  I found it beautiful and relaxing. Enjoy!  :)

I am really enjoying my camera and going for walks in nature.  I find it very therapeutic.  I have a Polaroid digital.
It works very well for me even though it isn't a fancy or expensive camera.  For myself, being an amateur and very new to digital cameras, it is fantastic.  What I find a challenge is capturing birds in flight and/or closeup.  However, I do use the zoom feature on my camera but when things are very far, of course it doesn't work as well as a fancier camera and lens. Still, I appreciate and enjoy what I have and use it well, as you can all see from the many photos I share here.  :)  I absolutely love being by the water so you will notice that many of my photos will be around water!

With summer on its way out and Autumn slowly approaching you will begin to see lots of colour in my photos and the green will dissipate with time.  I love colour, so this is no problem for me at all...and I love Autumn, too.

The photos I am sharing today are ones I took on my walk on Saturday.  You just need to click on the images to see a larger view.

Thank you all so much for visiting me here!  I always appreciate and enjoy reading your kind thoughts, which you are always welcome to share by clicking on the 'comments' link at the end of my post.

  1. I love hummingbirds. I think that they're my favorite of all birds. I don't get to see them often though. And I am also eagerly anticipating autumn :)

  4. The hummingbird video was terrific. There sat that woman, totally oblivious to the beauty above her head.

You and your Polaroid digital are producing some beautiful photographs. I've just upgraded to a DSLR in the last few months, and I do love it. But the point-and-shoot cameras they make these days are such high quality that it's hard to tell the difference between their images and those shot with a DSLR.

  5. This is a beautiful video, we don't have hummingbirds so this was really appreciated..they do not seem to like europe or the south of france anymore, even though a 30 million year old fossil of a hummingbird was discovered here in the Luberon-and I was once taught it isn't always just the apparatus we use but more often than not who is behind the apparatus-voila-and you take wonderful shots.

I find hummingbirds fascinating, because we don't have them here either. I hope I get to see one for real someday.
I think you take some beautiful pics. I very much enjoy seeing where you go on your walks.

  8. I love the blue sky and blue water in the photos! I, too, love my camera. It makes me see things I might have missed otherwise.

  9. i honestly think your photos are excellent. they always look sharp, and your angles are very pleasing to the eye. and of course, it helps that we love your subject matter: nature! i love scenery with lots of water too, we have that in common. it's good that you take a lot of photos in natural sunlight as well ... for me, one of the problems of photographing in restaurants is that the lighting can be very dim, so the food doesn't look as vivid as it should =) it's amazing how fast time flies. i remember your blog posts when it was still a very cold springtime, and we were wondering when summer would make its presence felt in your town. and now summer's nearly over! :D

  13. Those leaves turning orange look almost like big carrots hanging from the tree. The blues are so pretty. That boat, wonder what kind it is, maybe a speed boat...

  15. Yesterday a hummingbird visited my hanging pot of petunias. It went to many of the pink ones but not any of the white ones. I guess the pink ones are tastier!

  19. Lovely video Linda, I remember a nature documentary once about Humming Birds where they slowed down the film to count around 80 wing flaps in a second. Amazing !
You have some gorgeous places to walk.

  21. I just bought a new camera over the weekend after my old one gave up the ghost. I've got to get used to it before I can get out and do some serious shooting though.
I love seeing your nature walks. Don't forget the camera! :)

  22. You do great with your photography. I have an inexpensive point and shoot camera that is about eight years old. I find I enjoy the hunt for something to photograph more than perfect photography. I use my zoom a lot and also edit. It is a hobby that grows and grows. :)

  26. You sure will have fun learning about photography. The last shot is nice with the contrasting colours.

  27. As others have mentioned, the blue of that lake is absolutely breath-taking! Your camera captured it extremely well. I have an "intermediate" camera - - - probably like yours. When I took a photography class, I realized that the really good cameras take some time to get used to taking the perfect shot automatically. I don't really have the patience or time right now - - or the money - - to invest in one of those. Like you, I am very happy with the digital I have, too.
