We had one of those drugstores in my hometown. It was so full of merchandise you could hardly get to the back where the soda fountain was. My Grandpa bought me many trinkets from that store. The 'druggist' was a wonderfully nice man and always from the time I was a little girl complimented me on my strawberry blond hair. We would 'go to town' on Saturdays and we knew to meet my Grandma in front of the store. Sometimes my Mom would go off shopping and my Grandma and I would go in and sit in a booth and have an egg salad sandwich and an orange Crush drink. Thanks for the memories today!
ReplyDeleteThe flowers are lovely!
Lovely are the flowers photos!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice day! RW & SK
Your flowers are gorgeous! I love them when the sun is on them the best, it makes awesome pictures and lights them up so wonderfully. They seem to look rather dull in the shade. So yours are JUST PERFECT! OH, I LOVED the soda fountains and miss them so!!! We had one on our corner growing up, in a drugstore. Yes, I was born in 1949 int a prefect world that is now gone forever.
ReplyDeleteSuper flowers, they brighten up a dull day, and a milkshake, I think the last one I had was in 1968!!! Now, that does tell my elderly status!!! I know the year so well, I was very ill for some time after that. Cheers from Jean.
ReplyDeleteA drugstore having a soda fountain where you could order breakfast or lunch, a coffee, tea or milkshake ! This is amazing. Sad they are no longer around. In general stores have become highly automated and there is very little interaction between customer & shop owner.
ReplyDeleteYour flower pics are bright & colorful and pure joy to behold. Best Wishes Ram
Your flower photographs are beautiful. I can't see the video, so I will pop back later and see if it is there:)

Hi!Many beautiful flowers.I like the last one very much. I enjoyed this video too. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteMe gusta la frescura multicolor que emana de esas fotografías. Un abrazo,
ReplyDeleteoh, we don't have drugstores like this at all in my city. there are just pharmacies which sell medicine and household necessities like soap and shampoo, but don't serve hot meals =) i like the warm colors of the flowers in your pictures =)
ReplyDeleteOh Linda - every time we drive by Prud'homme and Sherbrooke - I remember my grandfather taking me to a small drug store - I was probably 6 - so 48 years ago - and I'd twirl on one of those seats and have a bottle of coke ( in a GLASS bottle lol )
ReplyDeleteAnd by the way - Chalet Bar-b-q still brings me back to those days too - since they haven't changed their decor since then!!!
Great post!

First... loved the cows responding to the cello. We all love music.. there should be more music in the world, yes?
ReplyDeleteOur local small town drugstore also had the soda fountain and what fun it was... late '50's. Cherry coke was a new item them!
The video did indeed bring back warm memories of the past. And the sunshine didn't hurt your flower photos a bit. Love the last one especially, with the multiple colors.
ReplyDeleteAnd sometimes the sun enhances all the colors. I love the mix of yellow, orange, red, pink in the last picture.
ReplyDeleteYeah I don't think I've ever seen the classical drugstores even when I was little.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos. I work at a college in a small town in Central Ky. In this town there is a drugstore with an ice cream and soda counter in it. It's like taking a trip back into time. It's unlike anything I've ever seen.
ReplyDeleteBorn in 1948, so I remember even more, like your pics too.
ReplyDeleteWow how great is that an old fashioned Drug Store..
ReplyDeleteWonderful Flowers so very colourful.

We have a store somewhat like this with fountain drinks and all...such a delight to visit...better times.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful flowers! It's too bad those kinds of drugstores don't exist anymore. Sounds fun!
ReplyDeleteGreat shades of yellow. Lovely pics!
ReplyDeleteYour photos are so nice, Linda, even in the sun.
ReplyDeleteLie(f)s.
On niin kauniita kukkia monta keltaista sävyä:)
ReplyDeleteLove the drugstore! I've never experienced one but really nice to learn more :-)
ReplyDeleteYour video was fun, I didn't grow up with these when I was a child in England, but I have enjoyed finding them here. There is one in Fredericksburg, Virginia. We went into it the last time we were there which was a while ago. It is about an hour and a half from home. There is also an old-fashioned soda fountain in West Yellowstone. We are going to try that out tomorrow :)
ReplyDeleteLoved your flowers Linda, lovely post as always.
They don't have the old fashioned drugstores around here anymore. Most of them are chains. Though the one I go to is friendly (I live in a small town), it still has a chain quality.
ReplyDeleteReminds me of Happy Days.
