Celebrating September

Hello everyone!  A very warm welcome to you all!  The video I have chosen for this post is a beautiful classic song entitled "Try to Remember" by Harry Belafonte.  Enjoy!

Today was a summery like day here in Montreal and it is supposed to be similarly mild for the weekend as well.  I have been enjoying the beautiful colour changes in the leaves and the cooler evenings!

What is your favourite season...and why?  My favourite season is Autumn!  My reasons:  October 27th is my birthday, I love root vegetables and the prices of them at this time of year are fantastic!  I love the colour changes and the crisp, cool air.

The photos I am sharing today are ones that I took on a recent walk.  You just need to click on the images to see a larger view.

Quote:  Delicious autumn!  My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird, I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns. - George Eliot

Thank you all so much for visiting me here!  I always appreciate and enjoy reading your kind thoughts, which you are always welcome to share by clicking on the 'comments' link at the end of my post.

  1. I love autumn, too! I love the cooler weather and the beautiful changes in the leaves. The air feels fresher, not as humid.

I love the photos with the water, rocks, and birds--lovely!

  3. Fall is my favorite and September is my birthday month. My daughter, Summer, was born on October 27th!
Louis Dean LOVES that song! So do I!
The temps dropped 15 degrees her in Texas this evening. Hopefully tomorrow will not be scorching hot as it has been!!

  5. When I was younger, my favorite season was fall! The crisp air, the gorgeous leaves. Now it is still beautiful to me, wildly gorgeous leaves to snap, but everything is dying, including the light. It bodes the coming of winter and the dying of the light, the flowers, the warmth. SO having said all that, spring is my favorite now that I am old!!

  7. Thank you for the beautiful September song and images!
I love autumn, and one of my favorite poems is "To Autumn" by William Blake:
O Autumn, laden with fruit, and stained
With the blood of the grape, pass not, but sit.
Beneath my shady roof; there thou may'st rest,
And tune thy jolly voice to my fresh pipe ....

Wishing you a wonderful autumn weekend,
    Merisi

  16. Hi Linda,

    A beautiful post, lovely photos.

I have two favorite seasons: Spring and Autumn. I don't like the extremes in temperature.
And here in Brasil, even in the south ( where I live), the summer is incredible hot.

Although this year, we had a very strong winter, with snow in some places! This has never happened in almost 50 years! Our winter used to be very similar to your autumn.

  17. H. Belafonte was my Dad's favourite singer, this is one of my favourite songs. Fall, like you my birthday, the colours, the fresh apples, the change in temperatures, wearing sweaters with my shorts ;-).

  24. That song is an old favorite of mine! I love the color in the leaves in your photo. In the fall, fall is my favorite season. In the spring...well, it's spring. :)

  25. Such lovely photos, Linda. My favorite season is Spring, because my gardens start to wake up and it means I have several months of lazy, warm, breezy days in to enjoy in the gardens. But I do love autumn.... dressing in sweaters and heavy socks, kicking through leaves, and making big pots of soup on Sunday to eat all week. Wishing you happy times this season!
