Some of My Favourite Things!
Hello everyone! A very warm welcome to you all! The videos I have selected for this post are: A Just for Laughs Gag/Juste pour Rire
Patches by Clarence Carter (this song has been a favourite of mine ever since it came out!)
5 10 15 20 25 30 Years of Love - The Presidents (just a beautiful song that I have always enjoyed)
This next song, a great classic and another of my favourites, teaches a great lesson about hatred and greed. These people in the valley were very selfish and hateful and wanted what the mountain people had, and which the mountain people were happy to share with them. However, this wasn't enough for the valley people, who wanted the treasure all to themselves, so they killed the mountain people. They got their just reward indeed...the treasure was hidden beneath a rock and it said "Peace on earth."
The song is: One Tin Soldier by the Original Caste and was featured in the movie "Billy Jack." Great song!
You Don't Have to be a Star - Billy Davis Jr. and Marilyn McCoo (a lovely couple who, before they became a couple sang with the group The Fifth Dimension). They went on to sing as a couple and this is one of their songs, my favourite by them. They have been married for over 40 years now and are still performing. I wish them all the best.
United We Stand - Brotherhood of Man (this song I have always loved, it is just a beautiful song)
For the following, I am providing the link sources beneath each photo. You just need to click on the images to see a larger view. You have the choice to bring yesterday with you to clutter up the day, or you can leave it behind you and focus on today.
i like the songs you've shared today ... i've actually never heard any of them, but it's lovely listening to them and being brought back to a time decades ago :)
Linda, thank you for all these inspirational pictures! I am so happy that finally can visit your blog, in few days will be officially on holiday and would have more time... ihuuuu can't wait. Wishing you a great day, my love! Liuba x
Good morning, dear Linda! Once again I am delighted to find a pop music post here on your blog and to learn that some of your favorites are also my favorites. In my personal vinyl collection I have the singles by Clarence Carter, The Presidents, The Original Caste and The Brotherhood of Man. Clearly you enjoy songs that tell a story and deliver an important life lesson. "Patches" always brings a tear to my eye when I listen to the tale of how a boy needed to step up and become a man to support the family after his daddy died. Work ethic, sacrifice, putting others first - these are traits that many of today's youth have not yet acquired. "5 10 15 20 25 30 Years" is a celebration of a love relationship that has stood the test of time. How many of today's marriages fall apart at the first sign of a problem? I have a post saluting Tony Burrows coming up on SDMM. He's the versatile vocalist who sang with many different groups in his career including The Ivy League, The Flower Pot Men, Edison Lighthouse, White Plains, The Pipkins, The First Class and The Brotherhood of Man. My favorite Tony Burrows recording is the 1974 hit "Beach Baby" on which Tony sang lead with The First Class.
Thank you very much for the music and memories, dear Linda!
Oh what a wonderful post! Some of these have made me cry...they are so powerfully moving, especially the mental illness one; the essence of life; and the tree branches. The recipes and music selection are fabulous too! Thank you so much.:) xoxoxo
Loved all of your music Linda. It brings back memories and the fact that the past music was always the best. Thanks. Have a great Tuesday my friend. See ya.
I played all of the songs for my husband who is amazing at music trivia. He got them all but one which includes the name of the song, who preferred it and what year it came out.
Hahaha about the upper management, so cute. Oh my one tin soldier, nearly forgotten, thx for sharing Linda. Have a happy and fantastic day, girl. xox Lenya FashionDreams&Lifestyle
