Country Sunshine - Dottie West
For the following, I am providing the link sources beneath each photo. You just need to click on the images to see a larger view. Friendship isn't about who you've known the longest. It's about who walked into your life, said "I'm here for you" and proved it.
Relationship last not because they were destined to last. Relationships last long because two people made a choice to keep it, fight for it and work for it.
Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings. - William Arthur Ward
Don't focus on what is wrong. Things may not be perfect, but be grateful for the opportunity to experience each day. Live each day like it could be your last.
If someone is not treating you with love and respect, it is a gift if they walk away from you. If that person doesn't walk away, you will surely endure many years of suffering with him or her. Walking away may hurt for a while, but your heart will eventually heal. Then you can choose what you really want. You will find that you don't need to trust others as much as you need to trust yourself to make the right choices. - Don Miguel Ruiz
Hi Linda. I'm stopping by to wish you a Happy Christmas and a wonderful New Year.
I enjoyed the Dottie video. Do you know we don't have a UK radio station devoted to C&W? Such a shame that we have to download to our own devices etc or play CDs MP3s.
Don't ever get locked in a cage with a gorilla or anything that looks like a gorilla! :) Love that Canadian dog, too. And Dottie West? That takes me back a few years! Great singer, though. Have a wonderful day!
It's a wonder none of those prank victims died of fright while trapped in a cage with a powerful gorilla. I admit that the man in the gorilla suit did a very convincing job of imitating the natural movement of the beast. Who could not love a pup of any species? I loved getting a close-up view of the young wolf with hiccups. Egg shell art fascinates me. Few people would have the patience to paint such elaborate, detailed scenes on such a tiny, fragile surface. Country singer Dottie West was a familiar face and voice during my youth. I enjoyed this video which captures Dottie at the peak of her popularity.
Dear Linda, I am immersed in family activities this week and my visits to your blog might become sporadic. Please know that I am thinking about you regardless.
Nice morning uplift! I'll come back and look at a couple of those videos later ( I have never made roast lamb... Don't even think I've ever seen it sold, now that I think of it).
I just learned this year that Dottie West died on the Opryland exit, which is an exit I took at least once a week from 2006 to this very year, when we moved. I still take that exit regularly. There are a LOT of accidents there this time of year with everyone trying to exit there to go to the mall (the theme park became a mall). I don't think many people realize that's where Dottie West's fatal car accident happened.
Hi Stephanie, yes, I was aware of this. Actually, as I recall, it was her 93 year old neighbour who drove her to a singing appointment she had, because her car had broken down. She was running late and encouraged him to speed, which is how the accident occurred. Had she not encouraged him to speed she might not have died from the injuries from this fatal accident, whereas her neighbour suffered only minor injuries. Sad.
Definitely sad. I looked at a condo in the building where she lived once...it was a little too bleh for me, although I'm sure her condo was nice! It's just this outdated high-rise in the rich area of town. I'm sure it was considered at the top of its class, many years ago, when she lived there. It was ahead of its time--now high-rises are going up everywhere!
I didn't see a condo but I saw the movie about Dottie West, which I thought was very well done, and she once had a large, and beautiful, house. Unfortunately, though, the bank foreclosed her home due to her finances having gone very low, (at one point in her life), so she pretty much lost everything at that point. Quite sad. She was a great entertainer and she cared about, and helped other new entertainers to succeed in the field as well.
Great gag video the expressions on the ladies faces was really something. The art work of the egg shells was beautiful. Love the Dottie West video. Great quotes. Have a blessed day. Madeline
roast lamb! that video certainly caught my attention ... btw, i'm also loving your latest website header ... the photo of the trees against the blue sky and water is beautiful ...
Thank you, Linda, for your kind comment on my Grey Squirrel! He is quite a regular and we can never decide whether we like him eating so much or whether we wish he would hold back a bit so the birds get a chance! Thank you here for a lovely post ... the little elephant is, I think, my favourite! Happy Christmas from the UK.

There was this saying: Of all the pain, the greatest pain is to love but love in vain. I guess that's the pain that hurts?
