I have been doing a family/genealogy search with absolutely no knowledge of genealogy and I am pleasantly surprised at what I have discovered! This is an ongoing search, but I have managed to find some of my cousins in Nova Scotia, whom I have never met! They are a lovely family! There are 3 girls and two boys, and we are all baby boomers, so it is fun to get to know one another, to learn more about our family history and to share photos.
I will keep this short, but thank you so much for listening. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
The videos I have selected for this post are:
A Lifetime of Love Stories
If Your Hands Could Smell, You'd be an Octopus - Deep Look
The Wedge Tiny House Produces More Energy than it Uses
President's Choice Commercial - Eat Together (I found this to be an amazing commercial. We need more love and togetherness like this in the world!)
A Cat's Purrpose (purpose) :)
For the following, I am providing the link sources beneath each photo - you just need to click on the images to see a larger view.

Glad you got to meet your cousins from Nova Scotia. I love meeting and getting together with family and friends especially those not living in the same town.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely Linda I’ve started to dabble a little too and have also found family I didn’t know I had. I would love to do more research, but it’s time-consuming, and it can get expensive, so it will have to wait for now.
ReplyDeleteI’m going to enjoy the rest of your post now. Have a lovely day, Barbara x
I hope you'll stay in touch with these cousins, they sound like wonderful people. Have a good weekend.
ReplyDeleteWonderful for you to find that you have family in Nova Scotia, Linda!
ReplyDeleteLinda-I just LOVED that "eat together" clip. Yes!! Put down the darn phones and talk to each other!!!

Good morning, it is awesome you found and met your cousins. I enjoyed this post and all the inspiring words. Happy Friday, enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteGenealogy is so fascinating, I would love to do some reasearch myself☺
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with Michael J.Fox 's view on dignity.
ReplyDeleteAs for genealogy - I did a genealogical quest some ten years ago, but the american relatives I detected were dissappointing. Hope it doesn't happen to you.
Greetings from warm, humid Florida, Linda! We awakened to a warm morning at 70 degrees! In FEBRUARY! Yikes! LOL Thanks for sharing about the genealogy project, and the precious discovery of relatives who are enthused to get to know you! How wonderful!
ReplyDeleteLoved the tidbit about the octopus today, and your treasure of reminders. You are a lovely companion in this journey called Life.
hugs,

ReplyDeleteYes, a cat's purr-pose is to love, adore and rescue humans!
ReplyDeleteSuperbe!!! Bonne fin de semaine tout en douceur, bisou!
ReplyDeleteThe octopus video is fascinating!
ReplyDeleteLinda, Isn't discovering family fun. Via the Internet and Ancestry.com, I discovered several cousins here in the USA and my wife found family in Scotland...who we'll visit sometime this year. Didn't know that Octopus could smell with their suckers. As for cats, we all know that they RULE! Take Care, Big Daddy Dave
ReplyDeleteHi Linda, have a great weekend :)
ReplyDeleteRegards from HSP person from Poland :)
Love the quote about "Before you speak..."
Dear Linda so glad you found some family. What fun. I enjoyed your video of the two couples that had been married for years. How inspiring to see love lasting through the bad and good times. We need to see more of this. Loved the commercial about eating together. We need to see more of these - people versus technology. The cat's purpose made me smile. How true it is to all of us cat owners. Hope you have a peaceful weekend. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteYou should only know how you cheered me up here today, friend! I've been sick this past week, very homebound. All your messages are uplifting. I particularly love the one video from President's Choice. Wow, what a powerful message. Our family connected with a lost cousin on Tom's side several years ago. We lost touch after his divorce and losing twin daughters at birth. Now he and his wife are integral members of our family and we see them every year and connect by phone as well. I cry when he tells me how much he loves my girls and that they take away his sorrow from losing his only children.
ReplyDeleteI love you, Linda! You brightened my day.
Hello. Really funny that last picture. Greetings.
ReplyDeleteA great post Linda and my favorite was the president choice commercial. Just made me feel so good watching it. So warm and loving. I leave smiling my friend, thank you!!!
ReplyDeleteYes family research can go on and on. Right now I'm trying to find more about 2X great grand dad who lived in Philadelphia.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on
Thank you, dearest Linda, for sharing these great quotations and videos with us!
ReplyDeleteHave a happy weekend!
Dear Linda,
ReplyDeleteHow lovely to read that you're finding more about your family family and getting to know them better! What an exciting time for all of you.
I loved looking at the videos and the beautiful quotations. The thing that resonated so loudly with me today was "Today fill your heart with what's Important" :D)
Cheers now and enjoy your weekend and the week to come :D) xx
Hi Linda. thank you for your well chosen words of wisdom again. It is hard to pick a favourite from those as thay are all so inspiring. Love the last picture. It really made me smile.
ReplyDeleteAh oui, ça doit vraiment être intéressant faire la généologie de la famille.
ReplyDeleteBon week end, Linda!
Merci pour les vidéos.
Thank you for your visit! How lovely that you have found some more family and that you have been able to make contact.
ReplyDeleteThat octopus video is simply amazing. I hope you have a beautiful weekend.
Bom dia, confesso que só vi o primeiro video e foi bom, verei os outros mais tarde, a família é o um factor de estabilidade, é necessário encontrar a paz no meio dela, pelo que li, você encontrou.

First of all, thank you for your kind comments on my various posts! You are much appreciated. And I appreciated this post, also. Especially some of the posters that speak to kindness, silence and dignity. But the frosting on the cake was the video about a cat's "purrpose." Watching that was a great way to start the morning.
ReplyDeleteSome of the quotes are wonderful Linda....unfortunately some hit home! I enjoyed the videos as always....my cousins have been researching my family history for years...right to the 1700's. SO interesting!!! When my cousin went to Spain a few years back he went to the Church that my ancestors went to. Amazing to know it still stands!!! Beautiful post today!!!!
ReplyDeleteMaravilhoso! Os filmes são fantásticos!
ReplyDeleteGostei muito.
Beijos
Hello Linda! That is so wonderful that you are able to truly connect with family, that is so great! How exciting!
ReplyDeleteThe video on the couples is so sweet. A cat's purpose is adorable and true and ...funny! I liked the part on the eating together when the little girl went and got the older gentleman. That is soooo precious. Very neat.
The meme on feeling the energy before introduced, wow is that true! The one on the quiet evenings is very nice too. I think there is great value in quiet and peace like that! : )
Great sayings and videos Linda! They are all great.: )
Have a very nice weekend and have a fun time getting to know your family, that is fantastic! What a great adventure!
Blessings to you Linda! : )

ReplyDeleteEn muchas ocasiones nuestros antepasados perdieron la comunicación con familiares a los que por casualidad llegamos a encontrar.
ReplyDeleteSaludos.
Good morning Linda, oh my.....that video "Eat Together" made me cry. I guess because I've never know people to be like that. They just don't respond like that. It's a nice dream though. Enjoy your day.
ReplyDeleteas always your post makes me smile! Have a lovely day!
ReplyDeleteSupposed to be highly intelligent the old octopus. Smarter than the average dog in some ways.
ReplyDeleteHappy post as usually.
ReplyDeleteWish you lovely new week.
Fantastic post! :)

I LOVED that PC commercial, SO true. It is amazing to watch the "disconnect" of people around us, staring at screens, avoiding eye contact etc...I think most of it stems from either shyness or hidden hurts that keep us from wanting to open up, especially to new people in our lives, including brief acquaintances. Your posts are always great but today you outdid yourself!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteThat first clip is such a strong reminder of the power of love! :-)
ReplyDeleteGreetings from London.
Oh Linda - how lovely that you have found some relatives, that is just great.
ReplyDeleteA good selection of videos and quotes again, thank you.
I hope your weekend has been good.
Good wishes for the coming new week too.
All the best Jan
Love all that you have posted! How wonderful that you found your new family members. It will be so fun for you to learn about their culture!
ReplyDeleteHi Linda! That's really exciting about your new-found family members. And to think you'd never have known about them if you hadn't done a search...that must make you so happy!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed the Presidents Award video (the one about eating together). It reminded me of the old Coke commercials. We have such a great capacity to love don't we?
Hope you had a great weekend!

ReplyDeleteYour energy introduces you before you even speak. Excellent quote! Loved the cat video! Hope you had a great weekend! Big Hugs!
"Eat together" - yes!" :-)
ReplyDeleteHI Linda, the quotes here about staying positive and letting go are so true and inspiring. Have a wonderful week.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
ReplyDeleteHi Linda, love the quotes here, indeed happiness is a quiet night at home, I love blogging, blog-hopping, watching Youtube and listening to songs in the quiet of the night at home

I'm so glad that you found your cousins, Linda! I know how much you miss your family. I've been thinking that it would be funny if I knew them. There was plenty to enjoy in this post; but especially the "Lifetime of Love Stories."
