Weekend Thoughts and Sharing About Myself

Hello everyone!  A very warm welcome to you all!
I have been doing a family/genealogy search with absolutely no knowledge of genealogy and I am pleasantly surprised at what I have discovered!  This is an ongoing search, but I have managed to find some of my cousins in Nova Scotia, whom I have never met!  They are a lovely family!  There are 3 girls and two boys, and we are all baby boomers, so it is fun to get to know one another, to learn more about our family history and to share photos.

I will keep this short, but thank you so much for listening.  I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

The videos I have selected for this post are:

A Lifetime of Love Stories

If Your Hands Could Smell, You'd be an Octopus - Deep Look

The Wedge Tiny House Produces More Energy than it Uses

President's Choice Commercial - Eat Together (I found this to be an amazing commercial.  We need more love and togetherness like this in the world!)

A Cat's Purrpose (purpose)  :)

For the following, I am providing the link sources beneath each photo - you just need to click on the images to see a larger view.

One's dignity may be assaulted and vandalized, but it can never be taken away unless it is surrendered. - Michael J. Fox

When we stop opposing reality, action becomes simple, fluid, kind and fearless. - Byron Katiewilliams James

Your energy introduces you before you even speak.

Think about what could go right.

Before you speak, let your words pass through three gates:  Is it true?  Is it necessary?  Is it kind?

Sprinkle a little love wherever you go...

Happiness...is a quiet night at home.

Today, fill your heart with what's important.

Stay positive, even when it feels like your life is falling apart.

Just let go.  Let go of how you thought your life should be, and embrace the life that is trying to work its way into your consciousness. - Caroline Myss

Your nature is to keep quiet.  You came from silence and you have to return to silence...you are dancing only for a little while you see...a little while you are dancing.

People will never truly understand something until it happens to them.

Make time for people who make you feel extra special.

:)

Thank you all so much for visiting me here!  I always appreciate and enjoy reading your kind thoughts, which you are always welcome to share!

  2. How lovely Linda I’ve started to dabble a little too and have also found family I didn’t know I had. I would love to do more research, but it’s time-consuming, and it can get expensive, so it will have to wait for now.
I’m going to enjoy the rest of your post now. Have a lovely day, Barbara x

  12. I totally agree with Michael J.Fox 's view on dignity.
As for genealogy - I did a genealogical quest some ten years ago, but the american relatives I detected were dissappointing. Hope it doesn't happen to you.

  30. Linda, Isn't discovering family fun. Via the Internet and Ancestry.com, I discovered several cousins here in the USA and my wife found family in Scotland...who we'll visit sometime this year. Didn't know that Octopus could smell with their suckers. As for cats, we all know that they RULE! Take Care, Big Daddy Dave

  32. Dear Linda so glad you found some family. What fun. I enjoyed your video of the two couples that had been married for years. How inspiring to see love lasting through the bad and good times. We need to see more of this. Loved the commercial about eating together. We need to see more of these - people versus technology. The cat's purpose made me smile. How true it is to all of us cat owners. Hope you have a peaceful weekend. Hugs!

  33. You should only know how you cheered me up here today, friend! I've been sick this past week, very homebound. All your messages are uplifting. I particularly love the one video from President's Choice. Wow, what a powerful message. Our family connected with a lost cousin on Tom's side several years ago. We lost touch after his divorce and losing twin daughters at birth. Now he and his wife are integral members of our family and we see them every year and connect by phone as well. I cry when he tells me how much he loves my girls and that they take away his sorrow from losing his only children.
I love you, Linda! You brightened my day.

I loved looking at the videos and the beautiful quotations. The thing that resonated so loudly with me today was "Today fill your heart with what's Important" :D)
Cheers now and enjoy your weekend and the week to come :D) xx

  43. First of all, thank you for your kind comments on my various posts! You are much appreciated. And I appreciated this post, also. Especially some of the posters that speak to kindness, silence and dignity. But the frosting on the cake was the video about a cat's "purrpose." Watching that was a great way to start the morning.

  44. Some of the quotes are wonderful Linda....unfortunately some hit home! I enjoyed the videos as always....my cousins have been researching my family history for years...right to the 1700's. SO interesting!!! When my cousin went to Spain a few years back he went to the Church that my ancestors went to. Amazing to know it still stands!!! Beautiful post today!!!!

The video on the couples is so sweet. A cat's purpose is adorable and true and ...funny! I liked the part on the eating together when the little girl went and got the older gentleman. That is soooo precious. Very neat.

The meme on feeling the energy before introduced, wow is that true! The one on the quiet evenings is very nice too. I think there is great value in quiet and peace like that! : )

Great sayings and videos Linda! They are all great.: )

  58. I LOVED that PC commercial, SO true. It is amazing to watch the "disconnect" of people around us, staring at screens, avoiding eye contact etc...I think most of it stems from either shyness or hidden hurts that keep us from wanting to open up, especially to new people in our lives, including brief acquaintances. Your posts are always great but today you outdid yourself!!! :-)

  59. That first clip is such a strong reminder of the power of love! :-)

I really enjoyed the Presidents Award video (the one about eating together). It reminded me of the old Coke commercials. We have such a great capacity to love don't we?
