Vintage Romance and Flowers!

Hi everyone!  The video I have chosen for this post is "Looking for Romance; I Bring You a Song" (Frank Churchill, 1942...instrumental).

I still have the cold, I have been coughing and sneezing quite a bit.  For the past two nights I have been coughing a lot, so hopefully this will pass soon.  I am stubborn and independent, I hate to take antibiotics unless it is absolutely necessary, and thus far I have no infection, so thankfully it hasn't been necessary.  I prefer to use natural food as much as possible, such as honey, garlic, onions, lemon, ginger, etc., and just let it pass on its own.  If I do get an infection, though, I will head to the doctor, but until then I am just going to tough it out.  :)

The photo I am sharing today is one I took a couple of summers ago, 2011...during one of my nice walks.  You just need to click on the photo to see a larger view.

Thank you all so much for visiting me here.  I really appreciate and enjoy reading your thoughts, which you are always welcome to share by clicking on the 'comments' link at the end of my post.

  1. We are waiting on more snow/ice in Illinois, so your colorful summer flowers are like a breath of fresh air!
Hope the cold ease up on you soon. Winter is gloomy enough without a cold!
    Much love,
    Kim

  3. I am just like you when it comes to doctors. I would rather depend upon tried and true home remedies. Feel better, Linda!

    1. Hi Shay, thanks for your support. A couple of friends think I should see a doctor, but really, I don't get colds very often (several years pass between colds, generally), and I prefer to let it take its course...so long as I don't have any infection, which I don't, thankfully.

  4. I'm all for riding out a cold. I think it helps build up your immunity naturally so you don't get sick so often!

    1. Hi Ms. Sparrow, you know, now that you mention this, I have some friends who get sick fairly often, and they take antibiotics. I really prefer to let it heal naturally. As you said, I don't get sick so often, I have colds perhaps every several years, not on a yearly (or more often) basis as compared to some. Thank God.

  5. I find it worse at night. When I lie down to go to sleep this is when it gets worse. I get up and sit up for a while and read or do something else and drink some water until I feel my throat is more stable and I can go back to bed.

  7. The zinnias are gorgeous! Anti-biotics will not help a cold and will make you more anti-biotic resistant if you take too many, so good for you for not asking for them!!! I hope you feel better soon!

  8. Hope you're feeling a little less 'under the weather'. I agree with not running off to get drugs for everything that ails - until and unless it's really necessary.

Gorgeous flowers - stunning colours !

    Gros bisous

  10. Goregeous zinnias. A favorite and hardy flower. I especially enjoyed those ocean sounds. So soothing. Perhaps running water in a small stream is why I like trout fishing so much....:)

  15. Hi Linda. Sorry to hear you're still not feeling well. Antibiotics won't do a cold any good 'cause they don't work on viruses. Stay warm and keep your fluid level up. But you know all that.

Love the picture - the colors are so vibrant. And the song is wonderful - it's one I don't remember hearing before.

Re the copyright. It is true that it's harder to steal a photo if you have the copyright sign in the middle of a picture. I guess I figure if someone is that desperate to crop off my copyright to steal a photo, they can have the darn thing! :)

  17. As long as you aren't running a fever and don't get worse - - it sounds like you will be on the mend soon. Like you, I only take antibiotics when absolutely necessary. One thing about being sick is when you are better, you feel wonderful.
