Cuttlefish: Chameleons of the Sea

Hello everyone!  A very warm welcome to you all!  The video I have selected for this post is actually the title of today's post.  I have always been fascinated by cuttlefish...I hope you enjoy the 2 minute clip!

In yesterday's post I shared a few photos that I took last May in a nature park walk.  I mentioned that the greylag goose in yesterday's photo was very sweet...well, she walked up closely enough to me enabling me to get some lovely closeups of her. I guess she noticed that I wasn't a threat and obviously she didn't mind my taking photos of her, either.  You just need to click on the images to see a larger view.

Thank you all so much for visiting me here!  I always appreciate and enjoy reading your kind thoughts, which you are always welcome to share.

  4. I'm actually terrified of geese, they always look like they're ready to attack you and they're so loud too! Hehe I have a cam which can zoom quite far, so I usually take photos of them from a distance.

  5. those fish are pretty creepy-looking, but I can see how it's related to the octopus

  10. you got great shots, I get so excited when anything non domesticated comes up to me even better when they stay long enough for photos. So many of the underwater creatures have the most amazing chameleon qualities the Cuttlefish is certainly one of them.

  12. Saw a great documentary on cuttlefish a while back, absolutely amazing, would love to come across them in the sea.

    Here's a little rib tickler.......

"Canadian geese are known to fly in a “V” shaped as they migrate across the county.

The lead goose in the “V” cuts through the air making it easier for the rest of the geese behind him.

As that lead goose becomes tired, he will drop off and join one of the sides and a new lead goose will take over.

This is done several times as they are flying long distances.

Question: So if you look up in the sky and see a “V” shape of geese and one side is longer than the other, do you know what that means?

Answer: There are more geese on that side."

  19. I like geese. Great photos. I used to see lots of them around the lake I walked around where I used to live. I'd love spring time when all the babies were around.

  20. Linda - such an interesting video - I had never seen these fish before. How amazing that their skin takes on texture like gravel. I am always learning something interesting when I visit you dear. As for those geese - such lovely photos - so glad you got close ups. Take care and have a great day.
