Wednesday Wonders, Blogging and Google+

Hello everyone!  A very warm welcome to you all! I know that several of my fellow bloggers take what they call a "blogging break."  Some of you may wonder why I don't do the same.  Well, for myself, blogging is good therapy.  It gives me a chance to take a break from the harsh realities of life, the negative events, the bad news we hear on a daily basis.  Blogging does this for me, and whenever I read your kind comments on my posts, when I see that coming here gives you all a chance to relax, to see something uplifting, positive, encouraging, a chance for you to smile, laugh, or even cry (hopefully a good cry, though), just to be, without all the chaos of the world, this is great therapy for me!  Thank you all so much for coming here and for your kind comments, I really appreciate you.  :)

Oh, and for my fellow bloggers who have Google+.  I am unable to comment on blogs that allow only Google+ users to comment.  I don't have Google+ and do not want it, and from many of the negative comments I have heard from fellow bloggers saying that it complicated things for them and changed things whereas they didn't want the changes, I am relieved I do not have it and just hope that Google doesn't force its Blogger users to switch to it.  Don't get me wrong, it isn't that I don't like trying new things, it is just that when I do, I like to make a conscious choice and effort to do so, and I don't like to be forced into joining something that doesn't interest me.  I like Blogger very much and enjoy doing my blog, but just because Google owns it, I don't wish to be forced into getting Google+. Thanks so much for your understanding.

The videos I have selected for this post are:

A Just for Laughs Gag/Juste pour Rire

Montreal Winter Vacation - The Magic of Winter

The Happy Koi Pond

Duke of Kent Tour Bus Garages (1940)

For the following, I am providing the link sources beneath each photo.  You just need to click on the images to see a larger view.

Thank you all so much for visiting me here!  I always enjoy and appreciate reading your kind thoughts, which you are always welcome to share.

  1. I can't comment on those posts, either. Though I am thinking about a G+ account, for food stuff.

  2. I feel the exact same way you do!! And it is getting harder and harder to comment to those on Google Plus without joining. It is very frustrating. I hope I am not forced to do it! LOVE the cat one!!!

  3. I took a break around the holidays and it was so hard to get back into my groove. I agree with your comments about Google + I hope Blogger doesn't force the change.

  6. I haven't made Google+ my comment box but I LOVE Google+ ...I use it more than any social media out there. I connect with many people through it and since I have it I can pretty well comment on any blog that comes along. I'm a bit of a social media fan, the more ways I can connect with people the better ♡

  9. Yes, blogging keeps me going, keeps me mentally active and it is something I enjoy. I think if I should stop for awhile, I probably would not come back again. Have to maintain the momentum.

ici ciel bleu pâle ce matin , froid et sec .... mais l'eau des oiseaux n'est que peu gelée , une belle journée d'hiver , loin de la grisaille ....

  12. Delightful. I share your ambivalence toward Google Plus. It totally confuses me and that's not the sort of thing I like in a public forum. Google Friend Connect and a calm inquiry into the hospitality of good minds is all I want in a social medium. Blogger suffices. My compliments and best wishes.

  13. i'm glad you derive a lot of positive things from your daily blogging, and your readers definitely do as well, linda, since you post so much thoughtful and uplifting material :) but if you ever feel like you need to take a break, do feel free to do so, since we will continue to wait for you to return after the break! :)

  15. I enjoyed the positive inspired thoughts, very meaningful for us to ponder and apply them.

  16. I hate Google + also. Sometimes if you click on a post heading it will take you to the persons blog and then you can comment.

Cats are gods. We've got two and they've left me with no doubts as to their deity. But they're also little furry friends and I don't know what we'd do without them!

  17. Linda, we are equally thankful for YOU as well :)

  19. I have fun blogging and it does often give me breaks from harsh reality!
I have Google+, which was required when I wanted to post a video on Youtube. I think my blog is kept non-Google+..don't know how things work but I want to keep this way!
Love the Baby Kitty quote. My kitties haven't forgotten that, either :-)

  23. Catching up Linda, nice sentiments and thanks for your comments on my posts.
I suppose Google + is OK once you know what you're doing with it, but it does seem pretty complicated.

  26. Blogging can be a good thing though stress can set in if a person lets it. I tried Google + but didn't like it at all.

  29. Hi Linda, I'm in agreement with you about Google+. I find it more confusing than helpful. When I try to comment on someone's blog who uses G+ I often find it's confusing between what they have put on there from other people and what is their own stuff. Since I have a G account, it seems I have G+ as well. I hope, when people try to comment on John's Island, that they are not sent to G+. Could you let me know how that works for you? I sure enjoy your blog and almost always leave with a smile or a nod in agreement with one of your quotations. Thank you for sharing, as always. John

  31. I'm glad blogging brings you happiness! I enjoy reading your words here and seeing the different things you've chosen. I also agree with you 100% about Google+. I don't want it either. If Blogger "forces" us to do it one day, I'll move my blog to another platform.

  32. I totally agree with you about Google+!
I downloaded Drop Box onto my laptop and found it very invasive! Louis Dean had to take it to the Geek Squad and they removed it for me!
Enjoyed your post and learning more about you! Have a good Wednesday! The quads should be arriving here at any moment so my day will be BUSY!

I never touch bored with you:-) The various movies including this again to the blind man or that the snow is beautiful to see. You have many text pictures inspire me Telkes again.

  39. I agree with you on Google+. It is no good for blogging or comment forms, but I do keep an account (similar to my Facebook account) without associating it with my blog--that way I can share there and comment on Google+ users blogs.

    Excellent quote by Joelle Hood!

  40. Linda, I love visiting here! There is always something, funny, silly or touching that makes my day! I am on Google plus but I refused to connect my blog and eventually Google stopped bugging me about it! It too would probably move my blog if I was forced into connecting it with Google plus. I like using G+ for my business but not for my blogging! Have a great day!

  41. The gag: I stopped breathing, Linda !
    Magic..., your winter...

  42. Blogging is therapy for me too, but sometimes there are lots if other things to do that I do take some day off:)
    Thanks for making me laugh.
Here is snowing and both me and my cat doesn't want it:)

  43. I feel bad when someone stops by and visits my blog and thoughtfully leaves me a comment and then I go visit their blog ...love it and then find I need google plus to comment. I do not think they realize we can not comment. :( Your top kitty photo of the gray cat reminds me so much of my beloved Lucy who past away a few months ago. I love the variety of videos and posters you use...one can always come away satisfied with your finds. :)

  45. Oh Linda...love that first video..so funny! Yes blogging is wonderful and I find it very relaxing...it does take time out from daily routines but I try to take an hour (or two) in the mornings with my coffee...However, I don't like change and I don't want google+ !! so I hope they don't change it..I'm not computer savvy and would be lost! I guess that's why I love your last quote..lol

Please do not be shy! I appreciate your kind comments, they are sweet treasures and really make my day! Spammers, do not waste your time, I delete your comments and they do not even show on my blog. Comment moderation is enabled. I do hope that Blogger's changes in the way of proving that you are not a robot do not deter you from commenting! Thank you so much! If you have Google+ and are only allowing Google+ users to comment on your blog, I do not have, nor do I want it. And if you use DISQUS for accepting comments on your blog I don't have that, either, nor do I want it. Thanks!
