How to help someone with depression...help him or her get an appropriate depression diagnosis and treatment.  Encourage the person to stay with treatment or to see different treatment if no improvement occurs.  Use understanding, patience, affection and encouragement to offer emotional support.  Encourage participation in some activities that once gave pleasure, but do not push the depressed person to undertake too much too soon. Encourage the person to join a depression support group where they can share in a non-judgmental environment.  Remember that depression is not something a person can "snap out of" nor can he or she "choose to be happy instead."  Depression is a mental illness, not a choice.

Never be afraid to fall apart because it is an opportunity to rebuild yourself the way you wish you had been all along.

You cannot recover from anxiety by just staying calm.  You cannot recover from depression by just being positive.  You cannot recover from anorexia nervosa by just eating more.  If mental illnesses were that simple, we wouldn't be struggling in the first place.

See the light in others and treat them as if that is all you see. - Dr. Wayne Dyer

If you are always racing to the next moment, what happens to the one you're in?

Forgive them.  All of your thems.  The more thems you can forgive, the better you will feel.

When you build in silence, they don't know what to attack.

Stop being afraid of what could go wrong, focus on what could go right.

You can wait for the storm to pass...or grab an umbrella and dance in the rain!  :)

My heart is tuned to the quietness that the stillness of nature inspires. - Hazrat Inayat Khan

Move on from your past and be done with it.  Your bitterness won't change a thing.  Stop stressing over it and let it go.

The kindest thing you can do for someone else is listen without forming an opinion.

Outer beauty pleases the eye.  Inner beauty captivates the heart. - Mandy Hale

You don't have to stop having fun when you get old...you get old when you stop having fun.

To find peace you have to accept life as it is - rather than as you would like it to be.

Thank you all so much for visiting me here!  I always appreciate and enjoy reading your kind thoughts, which you are always welcome to share!

  5. What a pleasant surprise visit by a koala. I wouldn't dare swim in the glass bottom swimming pool. The underground houses are very unique and I am sure they make very comfortable homes.

  14. Good morning, Linda!
Loved that sweet koala video, but I wasn't able to continue watching the "bottomless" pool... Scary. The other videos were great as were the quotes. Mount Rushmore gave me a good belly laugh. Thanks for that!
Hope all is well on the moving front! Let us know when you find something.
    God bless you, Linda.

  29. Thanks for the tips. My mum's having depression right now after my dad passed away around a month ago, 93. She's 89. Was in the medical centre for over a week and is recovering now, just discharged yesterday.

  30. Hello Linda!:) Thank you for these really lovely collection of quotes, and videos. I could totally identify with the Rainwaters quote, and many others. It was intriguing to see the underground homes, or a should say town. I couldn't watch the whole video clip of the glass bottomed swimming pool, and it's not something I would like to swim in, as I suffer from vertigo, but it is a novel and fun idea for the adventurous. Of course I loved the cute and curious Koala video,..how I would love one to walk inside my house.:) I hope all is well with you, take care dear Linda.X
